So far, I've only used some pretty basic single coil cartomizers and have been looking into getting something a little bit.. Better? I don't know if that's the word for it. I absolutely love my T2 Clearomizer and my Vivi Nova, but Cartos seem to be something I should get into for a day to day use. What's can I expect from a dual coil Cartomizer vs a single coil performance wise? And how well do they perform compared to a good Clearo or a Vivi Nova? I've been looking at the eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizers specifically.

The idea of a dual coil cartomizer is that there are 2 coil's so twice as much vapor. However it should be stated that they pull twice as much amperage and basically cut battery life in half, and go through the juice faster.

They have quite the cult following on ECF from what I can tell. Personally I am not a fan, but I am not a fan of cartomizers at all. I can get more flavor and vapor from a single coil atomizer than I ever could with a dual coil cartomizer.

I figured they'd be pulling more out of my batteries. That is a bit of a concern I suppose.

I really do enjoy my Vivi and my Clearomizers though. I suppose if I found some good quality Clearos I could use those on the go. Any suggestions as far as Clearos go then? I like my T2s but I can't help but feel like I could do better.

I'm sure someone else will come along with info on clearo's. I gave up on clearo's, carto's, fluxo's, and whatever other O's are out there a long time ago. I come back to them ever so often to try the latest and greatest, but I keep going back to a good atomizer.

Twice as much amperage compared to ?

OP, taste is subjective. Some prefer atty's, some clearo's, some cartomizer.......
I'm a firm believer, that anyone should keep trying different things until they find what works for them. Until you find what truely works, you will still have that urge to pick up an analog. If you like cartos, it's worth at least trying a dual coil. I like dual coils, but only above 12 watts; not many devices are capable of driving them that high.

Compared to a single coil... The coils are wired in parallel, so while the voltage to both remains the same, it's pulling twice as much current.

That's another point about the amperage... Even though a multimeter will read it at 12 watts, it is actually two coils @ 6 watts each. That's a fairly cool cape, even if it will produce more vapor.

There isn't enough details here to make a blanket statement like that, and it may confuse the readers here in the "new members forum". A 1.5 ohm dual coil will draw twice as many amps as a 3.0ohm single coil. A 3.0 ohm dual coil will draw equal amps of a 3.0ohm single coil. Number of coils is irrelevant to amperage. Total resistance determines amperage draw from the battery.

Simply dividing the total watts is not accurate. My sense of taste meter tells me that a dual coil at 12 watts tastes a lot like a single coil at 8 watts. The vapor produced by the bottom coil is being heated again by the top coil as it passes by making the overall feel and taste "hotter" than the 6 watts that each coil is producing. YMMV.
