Ohm are ohms. The battery doesn't know how many coils are in the thing.

DC's are normally 1.6 ohms (2 x 3.2 ohm coils). I wouldn't vape 1.25 ohm stuff on an eGo type unit... but that's me.

The 1.6 ohm cartos s/b easier on the battery than the 1.5 ohm single-coil LR stuff (by .1 ohms).

How well they function OTOH is subjective, but also device dependent. You have to have enough heat (volts & amps) to power the 3.2 ohm coils. Construction varies too (surface area). The reports are favorable as per above. Higher voltage or more amps will do better. Rivas are 3.7 ish so that should help.

Do all dual coil cartos have the coils in parallel? And if so, is the published resistance rating the overall resistance that the battery "sees", or is it the ohms of each coil (and thus requiring some math to determine overall resistance)? Sorry if this seems like a convoluted way to ask the question; I'm relatively new to vaping but I have a good grasp of circuits/loads=amps/watts and battery drain. I'm sticking with the 808 pen-style batts for now, and starting to explore my options for cartomizers. Not interested in attys, yet, either. (yes, I know I'm boring :) )

Yes and yes. For an example, I use the the eGo MEGA DUAL COIL CARTO. It has two 3.2 ohm coils in parallel. The carto measures 1.6 ohm at the batt.

Not like everyone I don't like the dual coil carto's. I'm only using ce2 and really like them. carto's - dual or single - are messy to work with, leak, clug up fast, and in general not for me. to me they are over hyped and not worth the hassle.

I really like CE2-X as well.
Waiting on them to fix cracking problem and problem w/ incorrect coil winding. I have version 5.
Properly tuned, CE2-X produces way more vapor than dc w/ easier draw.
2 of 5 CE2-X had incorrect coil winding.

I rarely loose a drop w/ dual coil; not messy IMO.
13 of 13 dc perfect.

Attys still gathering dust. Got the 306LR out the other day for a spin. Nope not my thing anymore.

I agree... CE2-X are still my top performer. Hey... what does problem with incorrect coil winding mean??? What problem does it cause? The cracking tubes are my only problem with them and they gunk up with dark juices quickly but they clean up even from dark juices. The heavy replacement tubes work great.

My thick tubes crack also.

I like the way you can pick at slag w/ needle to prolong wick life.

Two of my CE2-X tasted like plastic. I noticed those two had a portion the coil that would always glow even though wick is wet. Upon closer inspection I saw the coil was not touching wick everywhere. I picked at wick w/ needle and they taste perfect now.

Moral of the story is juice on a glowing coil does not taste good.

I'm ordering a Riva 510 starter kit, and they are out of the regular kind, but for a couple of dollars more they have some with a dual core. What difference does the dual core make in vaping experience?

So far I have tried the dual coil carto's from ego, and I really dont think they are anything really special. Maybe it was my juice, but I thought vapor was just okay, and TH was maybe just a bit better than using my usual tank setup.

My fav part of dual coil carto is they take more abuse before burning wick since coils share work load.

Where is a good place to get the 808 dual coil? I saw them at MadVapes but they were the clear ones and I've read on here that the clear carto's break a lot.

I actually prefer clear and never had one break. I take that back, mine got caught in the door when I was taking the dog for a walk. It didn't actually break but the clear plastic cylinder came off. That's what you have to watch for- the plastic cylinder coming off.

The reason I like them is because they're so easy to clean, unlike the black or silver carto. Because the plastic comes off easily, you can remove the batting around the coils and wash it. I run it under hot water. Dab it dry, re-roll it and use the carto again.

Negative- you have to be a bit more careful and if you use darker juices it looks a little unsightly.
Positive- easy to clean.

Thanks, I like the idea of it being easy to clean. I think I'll order some and worst case I'm not out much money at all

I'd say about 80% of the time they're great. If I see any burns I throw them away. It only takes a couple minutes and it's worth a shot. When you get them, PM me.
