I still like the 32g. I find it very easy to work with. I do it the same way I outlined above and get nice tight coils.
What I'm interested in is determining if there is a difference with coil gunking when vaping darker juices. The 32g gets gunked up pretty easily. I'm hoping the 30g will be a bit less so. The gold mini pictured above is for my minty/menthol/fruity stuff and never gunks up.
I've preferred 30 ga for most RBAs but it seems the coils gunk a little more slowly with micro-coils/cotton wick. Only wicking I've used with micro-coils is rolled cotton. I haven't used anything, consistantly, but silica, with regular coils.
The only few juices we vape are not dark but sweet varrying to just a little sweet to kind-of sweet; butterscotches, DIY and various brands, and FSUSA Applewood, all no darker than a Werthers hard candy. PG/VG ratios no less than 50% VG and all the way up to 100% VG. They all gunk coils. My best vape requires a coil dryburn every day or two. DH can go longer with his Mini ViVi Nova tank but my "taste" seems more refined than his. (Past week DH got into some spare atty heads 1.8 ohm. He normally vapes 2.4 ohm on highest voltage using Twist or Spinner [living with the traitor] and went through several atty heads a day. Too burnt tasting and major gunked coils. He had forgotten to check the ohm markings on atty heads.) I'm not sure if vaping too hot for juice gunks them up more or not, though.
