there is no comparison between what I USED to vape and what I vape now. I used to vape at 4 watts with a 3ohm carto and I thought it was good UNTIL I got my REO and Jan sent me a few samples and WOW I was AMAZED at the difference. I actually preferred a warmer vape except when I turned up my Zmax I also got a burnt flavor, same with duel carto's. I also vape dark juices and right now I change my wicks twice a day, not because I am not getting vapor but because I prefer that blow your hair back flavor of a new wick that isn't covered in sludge and wth it's so cheap and easy that now I can! :2cool:

Cat, you are a master coil craftswoman I must say. Not only do you know your stuff, you can explain it so even I can understand it. Walking the walk (swagger) and talking the talk. I like it :)

Thanks, Super_X, coming from you that's mighty high praise! Today was the first day I got around to doing your style micro with 30g wire. I really like it. (Only had 32g previously.) Learned a lot from you about those micros. Wouldn't wrap any other way. :)

So true...every time I come here, I remind myself, "patience, young grasshopper." ;)

What ya'll said. I'll also add that I've been through most of the BF RBAs and always test before using on REOs. RM2s are the only RBAs that I've yet to build every coil with no shorts on testing after build and/or in use.

The wire I've found easiest to use, and with aging hands, arthritis, and some numbness from nerve damage is the 30 ga Kanthal.

I prefer 30g wire too, not really sure why, just that I've had better luck with it.

I still like the 32g. I find it very easy to work with. I do it the same way I outlined above and get nice tight coils.

What I'm interested in is determining if there is a difference with coil gunking when vaping darker juices. The 32g gets gunked up pretty easily. I'm hoping the 30g will be a bit less so. The gold mini pictured above is for my minty/menthol/fruity stuff and never gunks up.

I've preferred 30 ga for most RBAs but it seems the coils gunk a little more slowly with micro-coils/cotton wick. Only wicking I've used with micro-coils is rolled cotton. I haven't used anything, consistantly, but silica, with regular coils.

The only few juices we vape are not dark but sweet varrying to just a little sweet to kind-of sweet; butterscotches, DIY and various brands, and FSUSA Applewood, all no darker than a Werthers hard candy. PG/VG ratios no less than 50% VG and all the way up to 100% VG. They all gunk coils. My best vape requires a coil dryburn every day or two. DH can go longer with his Mini ViVi Nova tank but my "taste" seems more refined than his. (Past week DH got into some spare atty heads 1.8 ohm. He normally vapes 2.4 ohm on highest voltage using Twist or Spinner [living with the traitor] and went through several atty heads a day. Too burnt tasting and major gunked coils. He had forgotten to check the ohm markings on atty heads.) I'm not sure if vaping too hot for juice gunks them up more or not, though.
