You might notice vapor fall off a bit, but you might not know it until you get the awful burnt taste. If you wait until they are burnt they are done and need to be tossed out, but when I was using cartos I got in the routine of knowing about how long they lasted and refilling them when they were about half gone.

(This is my take on the ego cartos)

Sometimes mine will still vape ok...but holds very little juice. The vertical coil cartos have a gauze type center tube that retains the ejuice from spilling out of the carto stuffing and pouring out the bottom hole onto your battery...once that gauze like center tube in compromised (usually down by the heat element), you'll have to top off the carto after a very short while. Trying to fill it will just result in a loss of juice.

Thanks for the replies. I like to "top off" the carto with a few fresh drops every other day so I don't think I will ever go dry. So....are carto's good forever if I keep it from going dry?

It really depends on how much you are vaping your cartos, K9. I always had multiple cartos that I vaped in rotation. Doing it in that fashion they might last a month. If you are only using one or two they will last a week or two depending on your volume, of course.

How will I know when my carto is done and needs changing? (I have an eGO 900 mah dual coil e-cig)

One thing that helps me is once I've filled a new blank carto, cleaned it up, and attached it to my device...I test the draw before and during firing to see how tight or loose the draw is (I have found that most are different). After a week or so I will notice the draw getting tighter and tighter along with vapor production deminishing no matter what I do to prevent it. At this time I will trash the carto and start with a new one doing the same thing over again. I personally do not wait until the carto dies. Hope this helps as well!

A buddy of mine told me that the way he tests his attys is with a multimeter. You would set it to ohms and put the black lead on the threads and the red lead on the end/tip where it screws in. As time goes by the resistance will get higher due to gunk building up. So according to him, once his 2 ohm atty gets up around 3-3.5 ohms he replaces them. Hope this helps.
