I'm not sure what "It says 5v" means... But if I were to guess right now, without your answer, I'd say the the Inferno PT takes 5V INPUT to the charger (AKA the USB connection), but gives 3.2 volts OUTPUT to the atty. You may only need a 500 mili-amp (that's 1/2 amp) adapter for your car. Look at the wall plug for your USB PT in the kit. What does it say? Is that what you plug your PT into?

You could try: Car Adapter for USB Chargers - check the input specs for your PT

If you want your PT to truely perform at 5 volts, then you need to use a 2 amp wall outlet adapter. Plugging it into the computer usually doesn't deliver the necessary power. There have been a series of whole threads on this one issue.
