The first time I dropped mine the top popped off. This was probably on the first week, from a window sill to a newly carpeted floor. Maybe 3 feet...head first. The wires survived. I was hesitant to use super glue; I was afraid the fumes might mess up the switches. So I wrapped electric tape around the top. It lasted several more drops (no thanks to my cat wanting the window).

A week or so ago the screen occasionally started going fuzzy and emitting a high pitch buzzing noise. Then, last weekend it fired inconsistently, the head unit started to get warm. I could feel it in the plastic area, not on the metal though. The high temp warning would blink in the display when the display was on (ie without firing it for use).

So I took the tape off to have a look inside thinking maybe some debris or juice had gotten in and was causing a short. I didn't see anything obvious. In the course of my examination, I broke the red wire from the board. I'm not going to bother to solder it back on.

I can't even use it as a paper weight cuz it is too light without a battery

I really did like my eVic, but I don't think I'd get another one unless a more durable version comes out.

I have re-soldered the wires on mine twice. You should do it. I am keeping mine together like this until my replacement head I am getting in a CoOp shows up.
