So I'm just starting to learn more about batteries before I get a mech mod and I have some questions.

Why are Sony VTC5's so rare?? Can't they just make more??

I actually saw people bidding on dented VTC5's on Ebay the other day.
While I don't know a lot about batteries yet, I do know I sure as hell wouldn't want a dented battery no matter how good it is.
And yes I know not to buy batteries off E-Bay. :) Although I have seen sellers that seem legit. I think Xtar has a store on E-bay and I've seen another seller that I think is legit.

Why don't Duracell and Energizer make recharable batteries for E-cigs?? It seems like there's a huge market for a battery that rivals the VTC5's?
Idk, just some random thoughts I had.

As I understand it, the electric car market has huge potential and is driving this battery technology forward right now. The vape market is IMO tiny compared to that.

Luckily what is needed for cars is pretty close to what's needed for us :)

I researched batteries years ago, and there is a mess of patent issues involving existing battery technology. The market isn't nearly large enough for a battery company to invest in technology for a very minute segment of the population. There are also liability issues...

I would think the vaping market is large enough and growing everyday for a company like Duracell or Energizer to invest time and money into a safe high amp battery. It seems like it would be easy enough to get around certain patent issues but idk.

A Sony battery manufacturing plant was damaged in the major earthquake in Japan a while back. If you are not into super sub ohm vaping there are a number a great 20 amp batteries to be had.

That sucks. I wonder why they haven't got them back into production yet? And I actually did just order some Samsung High Drain IMR 18650's for use in my Cana Mod v3.

I hope some company decides to step up and make a high amp safe battery that rivals or beats the VTC5's. I guess they better be working on alternatives to oil though because it isn't going to last forever.
