E charger or the battery >.<

Hello there people. So i just bought a new mod kit with a charger and 2 batteries included. I purchased an additional 18650 battery with the order. The problem i have tried to answer myself seems to not even be on google. My problem is the charger that i have, which is a kamry universal charger ( very cheap ) stays RED only! I have looked around and people only complain when it says green. I dont have a multimeter or no money at this time as i just spent what i had on this. So i want to see if maybe the community can shine some light on this situation. I left the battery on the charger for 21 hrs and it stayed red. I checked the feel of the battery for warm temperatures and it was dead cold. The battery works in my mod and fires and i even get vapor. I just dont want to keep using them where they drop too low on volts then become trash.

SO the question in summary. Is it the charger or battery if the charger just stays red and wont switch to green.

If the light stays red for all your batteries after several hours I would say it was the charger. If you mod has a voltage checker in it, see what it reads after charging for a couple of hours. Battery chargers that aren't working right scare me; never had a problem personally, but have read of some...

Its a pretty standard mod, no voltage checker and i dont have a multimeter. I bought it because all the cig batteries i had kept dying on me so its a cheaper alternative for replacements.

Ill try to go to a vapor store around here and see if maybe they can test the voltage on it and the batteries. I was thinking it was the charger as well, being the batteries still put out a charge. I cant find any info on the charger online and it has Chinese writing all over it. I think it should turn green after its done. When i pull the battery off the light goes green. Thats what led me to believe this.

Post a link to the charger you have. I can test it for you if it isn't working rite I'll fix it and send it back to you, in the mean time I'll send you a charger that works so you don't destroy your batteries. When you get your charger back from me just send my charger back. no charger should take 21 hours to charge one of the 18650 batteries. unless it charging at an extremely low AH rate. I charge 3000 mAh batteries in about 4 hours max on my charger.

This is what the charger looks like.

Thanks for the offer epic but it would be more trouble to do that then just buy a new one. I think i will call some stores around here and see who carries a charger for the lowest. I would get this off amazon (NiteCore IntelliCharger i2 Charger) for 11 dollars free shipping but then i have to wait for shipping and they wouldnt even start to do anything until monday. How much should i be looking at for a charger at store price? I dont need it to be special, charge fast, or even do multiple batteries at once. It looks like i will only be using 18650s. It came with a 18350 but i dont see myself really using it for anything.

Ok brother That charger is a heap, I have several of those in a junk box. PM me your address I'll send you a brand new 2 bay charger free of charge. It only charges 18650 batteries but will do 2 at a time. Put batteries in the charger and the light turns on green, plug it in and the light turns red, when fully charged the light turns green and charger turns off completely.

Im sure thats true. What choice do i have if i cant afford it otherwise. Will proabbly get a better one down the road but i barely make enough to get through rent. Cant buy some overprice charger. If it charges, which they all do. Besides mine :( ill be fine.

Take epicdoom up on his generous offer. You can "pay it forward" later when you are more in a position to do so. Safety first!!

Yup - that's a $5.00 crap charger. (You over paid.) Kamry includes those in certain kits and half the time they don't work. The output current is only 400 mAh, but still - that should charge something like a 2900 mAh battery in under 12 hours.

One thing you need to be aware of is the contacts on that thing are... crap. It may have never charged the battery at all if the light was red and stayed red. I had one and it needs a lot of screwing around some times before it makes contact - either with the battery or something flaky with the spring loaded contact internally - before it actually begins charging. You could very well just be running off the partial charge the batteries where shipped with.

It's not worth over thinking that charger - it's far better to just not use it, especially if you don't have any meter to understand what it's doing.

Ummm... you already spent good money on one crap charger, and now you are going to follow that up with spending more money on another crap charger? You do see where this is going? It's getting to be expensive buying the cheapest chargers you can find. Do yourself a huge favor, blow a big 20 bucks on an Xtar WPII 2, get a charger backed with a USA replacement warranty, and be done with it.

BlackMagik I'm offering you the charger free its not top of the line, but its safe and it works. I charge my batteries on an RC type charger I can set the charge rate, drop voltage to trickle at the end of charge the whole nine yards. The charger I'm offering wont do any of this, but it will charge your batteries safely and fully. I have 2 of these I obtained free with flashlight purchases from good flashlight companies. there quality is equal to Trustfire chargers, so it should give reliable service this will permit you to save up enough to buy a good charger in the future. I live in Baltimore Md. so it will reach your door in probably 3-5 days. Let me know if you want it, Its no big deal so don't feel bad about it I'm not using it for anything and you need it.
