People panicking over "smoke" in the cabin (as in fire), general panicking over smoking and everything slightly related to it, envy of smokers who can't have their cigs, getting angry looking at people using e-cigs, the form factor of different mods, etc. etc.
Plenty of reasons really, given how society is today...

I think that a "vaping" ban, as much as a "smoking" ban in a closed space is not entirely unreasonable (and I say that as heavy ex-smoker, now vaper). Particulary so in a plane. I don't see why people who don't want to smell my vapours should be forced to smell it. After all, it still contains nicotine (which mind you, is still a toxic, mind and body altering substance, altought assumed at low dosage it's not dangerous) and some people are indeed allergic to vapours.

I've traveled multiple times with my eCig. They're allowed on the plane, but use common sense and don't vape on it (psst... go to the restroom).

1. TSA allows ECigs in your carry-on. They SHOULD NOT be confiscated.
2. Use your common sense & be courteous. Vape in the bathroom if you must, but don't vape it in clear sight of other passengers.

I've had to educate some TSA agents what the eCig is, but they've never tripped out. I believe they are all responsible for keeping up to date with rules and regulations - and it's LEGAL to bring eCigs on board the plane.

Just head into the little bathroom stall, have a seat and vape away. Just don't take too long and make sure all the vapor has dispersed before leaving. If you fly a lot, it might be worthwhile to keep a bottle of unflavored handy just for this situation, just so no one can smell it. Oh yeah, do this at your own risk... it is against the rules and you could probably get in big trouble for it.

I cape when flying. Be subtle. Use the restroom. Also white cloud makes a no visible vapor product.
Smoke detectors in aircraft restrooms are optical and whose will detect vapor. Usually those are located in air ventilation at the roof of the restrooms, so stealth vape by exhaling towards floor might be safe. The safes option is to stealth vape where you are seated in the aircraft.

49 U.S. Code § 41706 prohibits smoking on interstate or international flights. The fine for smoking at your seat is $2200, and in the bathroom it can be up to $3300.

If you want to argue with the crew and TSA that vaping isn't smoking, be my guest. Just bear in mind that such actions could result in the plane being returned to the terminal, resulting in delays for everyone else on it.

Hi all I'm new here and not sure about where I can post but I joined as I have a question about air travel and e-cigs, I'm off on holiday soon and use e-lites so have the batteries and cartridges to take. Just wondered if anyone in the UK knows how I have to pack these? I.e. hold of hand luggage. I'm flying from Luton and will be taking quite a lot of spare cartridges as both myself and OH use them. Thanks

I was really hoping we had already crammed the worms back into the can on this one. All I will state here is that most countries have no laws about vaping on a plane but some airlines have added to their policy. If you do intent to vape on a plane it is wise to check the applicable laws and airline policies to avoid finding yourself in a predicament.
