Pretty decent report.

Dr. Mike: Electronic
Cigarettes

Should They Be Used To Help You Quit
Smoking?
PHILADELPHIA - If you or someone you know smokes or even used to smoke, you know how hard it can be to kick the habit.
On "Good Day," we've talked about patches, gum, going cold turkey, you name it.
Well, how about an electronic cigarette to help you quit?
Dr. Mike discussed how the cigarettes work, the pros and cons of them and why they may be a healthier option but actually aren't intended as smoking reduction or cessation devices.

It was interesting that the Doctor tried it... but Jon... you should remove the word "healthier". It is a claim! And because of that, Dr. Mike repeatedly noted the word "healthier". Instead of him focusing on the benefits, he kept coming back to the "healthier" portion, the lack of studies (which is not necessarily true)...

All of us who use and sell this know it is way better than tobacco, but those of us who sell it simply cannot say this! By stating "healthier" we do in fact, put ourselves into FDA jurisdiction.

Hi Lacey !! Im actually not even involved with the website anylonger...My team of lawyers and My webmaster handle all the content on there from now on. I just thought it would be better this way cause I dont have any legal exsperiance so Id rather just pay professionals to handle it properly. I pretty much hired the best I could find here in Philadelphia, They also represent The Cambells Soup company so I hope they know what they are doing !! Anyway, hope things are going well for you & your family :) Keep in touch.

Hey! Same to you! :)

I don't mean to hash this on... but I would maybe grab the ear of one of the lawyers and ask them about the word "healthier". Just one more time... to be on good measure because I do know, and I am not a lawyer by any means, that "healthier" is in fact a claim and it is sooo easy for your webmaster to remove the word from "healthier" to state that it is simply an alternative.

You and I have had discussions regarding this before and I know your story, your stance, and your perspective... but this is one thing I would definitely think about and urge you to possibly change. (This is just some friendly advice)

None of us need anymore negative attention than the next one... I mean, look at what the FDA just did to Cheerios for gods sake! Cheerios! They have made it very clear that they are willing and able to go after anyone.

Lacey, Jon (Safe-Cig NO Brainer) Deak does not care that his business is a big reason why the FDA is close to shutting us down. Please leave us alone, Jon! You have done enough, and we don't care what you do from here on out to the end of time.:-x:-x:-x

Tribble - I completely understand your position. As a supplier, all I can do is encourage other suppliers to follow some simple guidelines. It may fall on deaf ears... but I have to try. :)

I listened, but did not learn. The guy is so nervous that he doesn't touch on the FACTS about propylene Glycol, except from Dow, or the fact that the nicotine content can be exclusively controlled by the user. Dear Doctor, propylene glycol is also in face creams, soap, medical applications such as a mixer for colon cleansing prior to colonoscopy (about a gallon of it!) PLEASE, can't we get the facts straight for once. Nice try, no brass ring for this one. Also, if you read backwards in history, a great deal of research has been done with propylene glycol as an aerial germicide, as with glycerin also....with high results. I can't believe he didn't mention anti-freeze. Also he sort of eluded to the fact that an e-cig IS safer than a tobacco cigarette, to his credit, but he threw the cigarette away a little too fast to clarify the number of known carcinogens, poison gases, toxic and mind numbing, lung blowing effects. And to clarify the few components involved in using vapor from a PV. It's all about known facts. Dr. Mike was very enthusiastic, I will credit him for that, and that is a big help.

I was going to post this earlier today, but was too upset to do so.

I read the same DOW information that the doctor alludes to a while ago - and he committed a big sin, or he can't read. He said DOW doesn't suport or recommend the use of PG in applications invloving inhalation. But, he left out the all too critical why:

"Inhalation of the PG vapors appears to present no significant hazard in ordinary applications. However, limited human experience indicates that inhalation of PG mists may be irritating to some individuals. Therefore inhalation exposure to mists of these materials should be avoided. In general, Dow does not support or recommend the use of PG in applications where inhalation exposure or human eye contact with the spray mists of these materials is likely, such as fogs for theatrical productions or antifreeze solutions for emergency eye wash stations."

http://www.dow.com/productsafety/finder/prog.htm#HealthInfo

We all know some individuals may have allergic reactions to PG. So because DOW as a major corporate conglomerate does the expected thing and covers it's backside, this doctor then misleads his entire viewing audience.

Would it be possible to ask for rectification, seeing this clear misleading (willing or by not reading, whatever it is)?
I was surprised myself by what he read out there - too much in contradiction with all that is known on PG. It's good you went to read it yourself Yvilla... this is pretty clear-cut mis-information, don't see how anyone could deny that.
