Hi guys! I have an Ego aio (Joyetech) and i've been diy-ing my juices recently, with no problem, besides a little foam when mixing VG with water and flavours when doing VG e-liquids. I later found out that was normal and all. But I recently run into some dry hit problems. Until a couple of days I've only vaped 0 nic, and now I made some 1.5-2 mg e-juice. For 2-3 days all was fine, until today, when I directly lung-inhaled (first time with nic), and wen I did, well...Gosh, it was Hardcore. Now I don't know if it was a dry hit or only a lung hit, because it was hard as [edited], like my throat was on fire. Very, very disgusting!
That was my first prob.. Now I cleaned the tank, the coils and everything, and when I was cleaning them with distilled water and a syringe, everything started foaming: the tank, the coils etc..
What's wrong with my Ego, and what's wrong with my juices ? Or is it normal for a first time smoker to experience all this? (non/never smoker btw)

I've never seen anything "foam" before with my gear or juices. I would say that is not normal. No idea what's causing it.

Are you sure you weren't inadvertently using hydrogen pyroxide instead of water? Hydrogen pyroxide is the only thing I can think of that "foams".

Lung inhalation usually lasts much longer (and more intense) than mouth to lung one. It is much harder on wicks, so possible you had a dry hit.
When I go mouth to lung, my draw lasts about 2-3 seconds, with direct hits I usually go up to cut off time (10 seconds).
And what for do you need nicotine?

Try another flavour from another source - inawera for instance makes also flavours for booze. Which may not suitable for vaping. PG, VG, even a drop of ethanol and in some rare cases - triacetin are fair game. Any other carrier substrate - naaww. Tried solubarome ?
Also a check out your mix on a new atty with new coil.

Noticed also you're never smoker whereas large majority of vapers used to be heavy smokers and therefor accostumed to mule kick throat hits.

Do you hold your breath when taking a hot steamy shower?
No, dumb comparison to vaping it all day. He wants to know why it's foaming and taste bad with new flavour and nic. Foaming sounds like a chemical reaction and harsh possibly it's not 1-2mg as stated or the flavour isn't made for vaping. If it's foaming I wouldn't vape it, let it steep maybe?

If your used to 0mg say 50/50 try 40/60 or 30/70vg with nic. PG adds throat hit and so does nic. For 1.5-2mg with 100mg nic you only want .2ml per 10ml. Was your math correct?

Well, as it turns out, it's all ok guys. When I was cleaning the tank/atomizer/drip tip, I was spraying water with the tip of the syringe and that was creating some "foam". I later tried it with pre-made store e-juice, and it did the same. And later than that, I tried vaping 0 nic and it was smooth as usual.

Turns out when you first vape nic when you're a non/never-smoker, the nic will kill your throat (because the cigarettes have anesthetics that wear off that throat hit, and slowly you become used t, so doesn't matter even if you vape - anesthetic free ;) - ). I'll be slowly upping up my dosage. I was really freaking out, cause it was harsh, but surely wasn't dry hit because my lungs, nose wasn't burning, just my throat ( may as well I only have the problem -that's what she said, I know- because I regularly gurgle oxygenated water as an antiseptic, for bad breath and else ).

So that's it. Thanks for all the comments and have a great day/night cloud chasing your all day vape :D

Oh, and my recipe is: 80% glycerol, 20% distilled water-not to be harsh on the coil and cotton-, and later add flavour (I personally use cherry)

DIY Tip: pure glycerol evaporates at 290C, but it turns into acrolein at 280C. To counteract that, add at least 5% water when DIY-ing ( when buying pre-made e-liquid that is organic or VG-only, always add 1 or 2 ml water to the mix of 30ml, because not only a bit of glycerin can transform into acrolein, but flavours will rise to mean boiling point instead of lowering it under 280C -trust me, it won't hurt flavour, it will only remove flavour-diminishing harsh acrolein)
b.p. of 99%glycerin, 1%water: 239C
b.p. of 98%glycerin, 2%water: 208C
and so on (so it's not linear, it's exponential kinda)
