My Son works as a welder in a smaller manufacturing plant in central IL. He, and many other workers, started using e-cigs. They were informed several months ago that the company would reimburse some of their e-cig expenses so we started saving all of our receipts and he has been turning them in to the company. I'm not sure what dollar amount he sent in or how they figured the reimbursement but he got a check in the mail on Saturday for $300!
I'm sure the company is compensated by their insurance carrier for having non-smokers in their work force but it is above and beyond any expectations I would have from and company.

My company charges $25 per paycheck for "tobacco" users. Since this isnt really tobacco.... I get around it. But i'm not really advertising it either. There are others who do & they seem ok with it. But that "insurance surcharge" is a big reason i switched over.
I tried to quit completely using chantix but i gained weight. I'd rather be a smoker than a fat ..... Next they will have a weight surcharge...

I wish my company did that. I have a question for everyone about insurance and smokers. WHy do you still check the box with group insurance if we are not smoking. I looked at my on packet kit with insurance info and it only asked if I was a smoker. Not if I use nicotine.

Mine specifically stated that users on "electronic cigarettes" were still considered smokers. :(

That's great what his company is doing. When the original owner of the factory I work at was still alive, he would pay us $100 to quit plus pay for any of the cessation crap to help. Only a couple people did it. Only deal was that if you went back to smoking, you had to pay him back...which is why I think most of us chickened out. Now, under new owners, forget it. They could care less if we dropped dead.

That is awesome to hear a company doing that. It gives me hope that people do care, and sort of reminds me of the olden days you hear about. I remember hearing stories about how bosses and workers felt like a family, they all worked together at certain places. Christmas were special because they all knew each other by name.

Imagine working for a company that made you a deal like that. I would surely be inspired to work harder knowing they care.

When anyone asks me if I smoke I say No. I don't care what they consider smoking. I don't feel like I'm smoking. I'm not smoking what is actually considered a cigarette, cigar or pipe so screw them. Only person who knows the truth is my Doctor. Other than that some random doctor I have to see for work or school can kiss my ..... I've spent my whole life dealing with judgmental people, either in my family, at work, or any social setting and I just can't take it anymore. I'm making a stand for myself for once. I'm so tired of people treating other people bad because they don't conform to what others "THINK" is right. Enough is enough. *sorry for ranting*

I'm glad companies out there are not letting the government, insurance agencies and drug companies dictate what they do. It's great to hear that there are still people out there that are open-minded and nonjudgmental.
