Hi all,

Just a quickie to let you know that we're uploading the E-Cigarette Summit Videos and they can be accessed here: www.vaping.com/ecigsummit2014

The videos are in the order they were in on the day. There's three that we weren't allowed to publish, but we will put up the slides (Department of Health, MHRA and Advertising Standards Agency).

My top picks... nah, I'm not going to do that. Just make sure you watch them all!

ICYMI, the E-Cigarette Summit is a (not for profit) event we co-founded last year. The idea is to have a proper scientific/policy debate in public with all stakeholders in attendance. It has been very, very influential in the UK and Europe. This year's event took place last week (Nov 13th) at the Royal Society in London, and was a sellout. We commissioned video of the entire event, and are very happy to be able to share it with everyone, so do enjoy!

We're hoping to bring it to the US next Spring, so please watch this space.

Why weren't you allowed to publish the three?
They didn't agree to it. Quite standard for govt bodies not to agree to filming apparently. Shame, because the DoH presentation was very good and interesting.

I will see if they'll allow the transcripts to be published.

I would love to have it in the US. I might just have to schedule a vacation around a summit here :) Try to have in a place that is fun to visit ;)

I will watch the vids later today

For you, Disneyland? Kidding Robin. (Still loopy from surgery, ignore me.)

Thank you for the links Smokey Joe!

So far I've gotten through the three panel debates and a few individual presentations. Oliver and Amanda - Thank you so much for doing this! Ricardo, Konstantinos and Clive - I just can't express well enough how much I appreciate what each of you does in your own capacity ( I was doing "standing O's" in front of my computer - the dogs went crazy!). Love you guys!

Are you going to put these on Youtube?
A 478mb video is more than my feeble internet connection (3g mobile) can cope with.

I have a really slow connection too, slower than yours. A couple seemed to run well while others didn't. I chalked it up to volume of traffic but maybe it's a fluke on my part.

At somewhere around 17:00 into the Peter Hajek presentation...

He discusses the Cochrane Review study that will be coming out soon.
And he mentions results from those who used nicotine electronic cigarettes compared to those who used zero nicotine (placebo) electronic cigarettes.

He looks pretty excited about the results that will be presented, although he declines to present those results in deference to those who will present their results shortly.

But I have a REALLY good idea what those results will show.
And I would bet they will reinforce my long-standing belief that is more about the actions and habits than it is about the nicotine.

I would like to qualify this with what Ricardo Polosa presented afterwards, which seems to show that nicotine levels can be very important.
At least at first, when trying to get off the cigarettes.

I suspect that may well be the case for many, and not so much the case for others.
But after vaping for awhile, I do believe the "nicotine" becomes less important over time (for a large percentage) as shown throughout this forum over the years.

In the end, I would think there will be quite a mixture of what works...
And it may include high nicotine levels for some, and not really needing much nicotine for others.

But the question is really two-fold...
--What works to get off the cigarettes in the beginning
--What works to STAY off the cigarettes for good

I'm thinking more nicotine in the beginning will be beneficial for many, if not most.
But over time, the habits and actions will be the thing that really keeps most from going back to cigarettes.
