e-Cigarette Ban Draws ‘Civil Disobedience’ March On Oklahoma State Capitol | TheOKieBlaze

Governor Fallin’s ban on e-Cigarettes have angered many people from every political spectrum, so much so that they have decided to band together for a ‘Civil Disobedience’ march on the Oklahoma State Capitol come January 1st when the new e-Cigarette ban goes into effect.

“So many Oklahomans from all political stripes are tired of the air of aristocracy emanating from the executive branch. That we have chosen to do as Jefferson once instructed, ‘If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so.’” Howard Houchen, one of those planning on participating in the march on Wednesday next week.

30 people? Good grief!!! That's all the vapers in Oklahoma? Incredible.

It is unfortunate but I commend those who did show up. The gentleman who spoke to the media made a strong case. Unfortunately, as is the case seen here on ECF, there are vapers who agree with these bans and support them.

True enough, but the marchers had the day off, making it possible for them to attend.

Something I've noticed on 'marches' is that when Obama* comes to town (Toledo - 98% Democrat politicians) AFSCuME union gets the 'day off' to attend, making it look like 'the people' showed up when in fact most 'people' stayed home. Gives a skewed view on local TV.

*I'm guessing that in a 'Republican' district, the same may occur, but most gov't union members aren't likely to show up. I only know what happens in Toledo/Lucas County.

At the risk of being put on the "vaper that doesn't care" list, I wouldn't say I support the bans, but I don't have a problem with them if they are on govt. property.. Unfortunately this one was done out of ignorance of the facts. If I had thought going to the capital on New Year's Day would of had an impact I would of went. But as it was I didn't see any good reason to go down there when no one was home..

I would of driven 3hours or so to get there so weighing my options I stayed home...

I know that even if this product is deemed safe by the govt. we will still need to realize that in any war there is "give and take"

I have spoken with one or 2 top officials in my area to the point that if any antz type of legislation comes to my town they are aware and the antz will be tossed out on their ears.

Networking in your local area is one of the best things I feel we can do.

Remember , it's not always what you know, but who you know. A dr. You see who is behind vaping may know someone in the health dept.

A friend may know a D.A. Or an assistant da, or know a judge whom you may be able to meet and to explain vaping to them before the negative info gets to them.. Heck, there may even be a few of the "higher ups" in your area who vape and are behind it...

I dont dismiss what was done at the capital on New Year's Day, and I applaude it..

Excuse me, but isn't the job of the Government to serve the PEOPLE?

Isn't our government our employees? Aren't we their bosses? Oh wait, that's all changed now, we are their slaves and humble subjects. I forgot.

Apparently, you have not....

I didn't say it was right what happened, and while vaping is not smoking and in my opinion 99.9% safer if not 100% so.

Did we as smokers fight for our rights when they banned smoking in these same areas..

My above post is about networking in your area to get the positive and informative side of vaping to those whose opinion matters..

Yes, and good luck with that given the political climate of our times, and considering who is now in power in the White House. Your bow to government power was all I meant to address.

You know, in most cases, the local ANTZ's are people who work for the ACS, AHA, ALA, etc, getting their marching orders from their Big Pharm handlers. Most politicians will see reps from these groups as well informed professionals who know more than just a local citizen.

You're probably right, but it can't hurt to get to them first with a "word to the wise." Even planting that seed in their minds might make at least some of them look on the "professionals," when they appear, with a bit of scepticism.

I was asked to sign a petition for reelection of our local commissioner. Before signing, I emailed her and asked her her position on e-cigarettes. She emailed me back that she thought ecigs should be treated like tobacco cigarettes. Needless to say, didn't sign the petition, and now I send her links periodically to studies and articles about vaping, especially those mentioning and rebutting ANTZ statements.
