Reminds me of that segal movie..where the bad guy says " This is the kinda guy that you can drop of in the middle of the Mohave dessert in nothing but a pair of bikini underwear, and he'll be knocking on your door the next morning with a million dollar tan, and a fist full of pasos.".......Yeah, wish I could do that. :p

The thought of "too much gun" has never crossed my mind. Is there such a thing?

Well, I used to shoot rabbits with a .243W (custom bench-rest rifle, and beautiful) out to 400 or so yards. Wasn't a great deal of rabbit left.

If I was getting a double rifle I'd get .375 H&H, I think, always seemed a very "useful" calibre to me.

Don't even own a pea-shooter these days. :(

Cheers

Maybe in 3-6 months...I need to get rid of this belly and get my legs back up to snuff...and I refuse the tan Idea...

I take my stash methods seriously...and thats as far as I will go...I have bug out bags, and emergency plans for everything...including the off chance someone ever tried to frame me plans...not likely but plans are there...

the bouy scout credo stuck with me...Be Prepaired...in my case its Be Over Prepared...

You ever investigated solar cooking? I did when I was prepping for Y2K. Wonderful stuff.
I made an oven for $3 (literally) that would bake bread. How amazing is that?

Wow, I'm in awe. I thought you were kidding. I just love British double rifles, pure artistry in metal and wood. I'm curious though, why chambered for 600NE? Surely it's "too much gun" (I know, I know :)) for anything in the USA, even bear? Really a Big Five weapon, and only two or three of them? Are you planning a safari? (Seriously.)

Because my CZ 416 Rigby wasn't big enough and my (coming) custom 408 Cheytac isn't for hostile conditions. ;-)

No, because I was given the choice of 577NE or 600NE. At that point I literally flipped a coin. And I have a hippo hunt that is waiting. I participated but did not take a shot in an Elephant hunt. Once I got there it was clear there was something less than honest about it and I sold the license to a businessman from the Emirates. I did get to keep enough leather to make a few belts from it though.

I got far into enough relationships w/ South African businesses that the option of setting up shop actually arose.

Purely because other business interests would have embedded me in the region anyway. It's not a core interest of mine, nor do I have the stomach for it.. big African game. I've been on tens of viewing/photo safaris but only two hunting. US hunting is entirely different for me but anything in Africa more exotic than a Gemsbok would break my heart. -Magnus

Boddington hasn't budged in decades and says it's still the best overall for almost anything on the African continent. There is no way to sensibly disagree w/ him. He is remarkable. -Magnus

I saw fifteen and thirty one and I immediately thought firearms. The thought of marriage lasting that long didn't occur to me first. Ack, that's not good. -Magnus

Well in that case I might be looking for #4. Care for an upgrade?
Just so you know I'm easily bored and I like those who can take direction it's a very useful quality in the ways of :pervy:.................making me happy.
I don't use a gun safe. We just keep those babies next to the bed with a slightly aggressive "big ole Rotti or Weim" except at camp where one may have to stash things......... in my "box.....in my black box"
I'm still bruised from a recent surgery! hahaha!
Magnus are you hiding or cringing maybe both?:?:
