Yes, I agree with that. Wholeheartedly. I do it myself, I think we all do.
I've been lucky, the only ill effects I've had are the ones which are pretty well documented and understood.
They've been far outweighed by the positives.

However, if I had suddenly noticed that (say) my fingernails were falling out I'm sure I'd be suspecting the e-cigs.

The first rule of debugging: What has changed? (Anybody studied Kepner-Tregoe problem analysis?)

Cheers

My biggest issue is with those who start a thread with well-documented quit smoking symptoms, we tell them about those documented symptoms and warn them also about PG intolerence /allergies and then the worrywarts jump in and accuse us of poo-pooing or downplaying the symptoms. The OP never comes back (obviously we were right) and the thread turns into an argument about those of us who try to inform newbs about the known quit smoking symptoms having blinders (like Electricman accused on QSMB) or having an "agenda" to cover up the dangers of vaping.

To date I haven't seen one documented complaint that couldn't be attributed to either quitting smoking or PG intolerence/allergy. That "I'm done!!" thread (that I refuse to post on anymore because they started attacking me) is another example of people jumping to conclusions and claiming vaping was causing all sorts of disorders before ever even seeing a doctor. He eventually came back and claimed that his symptoms abated aftrer he quit vaping, but it's still not proof. It could be the symptoms would have abated regardless of the vaping. There is just no way to know without careful observation by a medical professional and trial and error.

In my case, I went through all of the symptoms of quitting smoking (excessive coughing from the lungs clearing out, insomnia, irritability, etc) and the new side effects of vaping (dry mouth/throat, vivid dreams, muscle cramps from not rehydrating enough) but they have all eventually gone away as my body acclimated or i learned how to counter them.

Then I started having new symptoms - irregular and heavy periods, insomnia, night sweats, dizzy spells - but guess what? I'm fricking 43 years old - prime pre-menopause time! If I was one of those folks, before going to see a gyno I'd be posting concern about these "new symptoms" and asking if they could be vaping related. All I've ever argued on that thread was that you should see a doctor and try eliminating other conditions FIRST before posting symptoms on ECF as "possibly vaping related." It's irresponsible to do it any other way.

I must be in a cantankerous mood again tonight, because the first thing that leapt to my fingers as I read that was a globule of standard OldPersonSpeak about how sad it is that we need to have graduate-level courses and whole books and seminars about what we used to just take for granted as common sense...

Oh, I feel for you. The Liberation is a magnificent gift, but getting the bows and paper off has some "challenges."

At least you're aware of it, that can save Mr kristin from that white-knuckle 3 AM drive to the 24-hour drugstore with heart in throat, followed by the most.embarrassing.ever visit to the gynecologist the next day, who will gently explain that the reason that new-fangled test said NO even though (insert your preferred assortment of TMI here) is because you've begun a wonderful new chapter in your life's journey...while you stand there, eyes downcast, with your finger in your mouth, little plastic stick in the other hand, drawing pattern on the carpet with your toe... oh duh

...A. Because if it flew over the bay it would be called a bagel!

Well, I laughed at that, but then I'm old. I'll laugh at Henny Youngman.

...lolady, I'm looking at you

I did just put up the 1st 3 blogrants of CartomizerFillology for the Aged, Infirm, Halt, Lame, and Sedated.

It's not very witty, but bagels are mentioned...

Behind you
Beer is helping - I can't even go to the other board right now cause I will be due for a banning. And WTF nitejanitor? I think John has some really valid points. You have found her on another board? Cause guess what? She probably did what I am about to do...walk. I am sick of the closed mindedness of a select few people. YOU of all people surprise me. You got crapped on with your oh I quit, Oh I smoked, Oh I quit, Oh I smoked and yet there you are...pick a side cause it is getting tiring. You ask where John is - it seemed out of concern and now that he posted and said to act like adults you talk about saints and trolls. Which one are you??? Cause I am wondering. Really wondering.

I'm not following this at all. John and Beth and who is the other person on another board? John Phoenix I assume is John. Did I miss a thread?

Are you OK? If beer is helping.... try cute angry pictures too. One of my favorites when I think about the Q board is:

(Warning to guys on the thread - this is a TMI post about girl stuff - so you've been warned! :p)

Oh, I wish! My problem isn't that it's skipping or missing but rather it never seems to go away completely and when it's really "time" it hits with a vengence I've never before experienced. Poor hubby is more likely to get sent on a run to the store for a...er..."product" rather than a test. 8-o I'm so looking forward to getting past this!! My mom was lucky - she had to have it all removed before she got to this point, so she never went through it. That sucks for me as I don't have the advantage of turning to her and asking, "Did this happen to you, too?" lol!

YOU are my HERO.

In 20 years of marriage, I have NEVER been able to get my husband to make a run to the store for a...er...product. Does he honestly think the checkout clerk is going to think it's for him?

It just is so old-if someone posts & isn't welcomed totally & they go away then the Q board has sentenced someone to an early grave-come on-its all about choices......

True!

When I was 18, I worked as a cashier in a grocery store and men bought them all the time. I never thought twice about it.

Thankfully, my boyfriend has no qualms whatsoever about buying them for me.
