You know, in reading more of that http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...lp-advice-recommendations-35.html#post3336040 thread, it reminds me of another good argument for e-cigarette over abstinence in some cases. Someone who has smoked 50!! years and is finally looking to watch out for their well-being isn't going to be someone who has felt a "slave to addiction" and just wants to beat the "nicodemon." They just want to add on a few more years to their life!

I hate to do this Kristen, but I have to link the first post on this thread you have referenced as it in itself is awesome and should have a directly link: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/186222-confused-old-lady-50-yrs-marlboro-reds-grateful-any-help-advice-recommendations.html

Please accept this as assisting you for adding the link.

No problem - it was already linked earlier in the thread - I was just making an easy reference for my post! :)

Yeah, I've been following that one, too. Good point!

Or people who are DYING from smoking and still refuse to quit. Not sure if you saw this thread: QuitSmokingMessageBoard.com • View topic - Why you went with an Ecig?

Yeah I'd fall in the same category as John P. as without "happening" to stumble upon e-cigs I'd be looking at planning my funeral instead of getting excitied now about planning my next orders for e-cig upgrades.

But I should post this over on Q-board now that my initial posts are cleared.

Ok, I've posted on Qboard:

So have any of you have had heart attacks & told quit or else??? just wondering if your drs. gave you a choice-e cig or no no cigs????

Yeah well I've been monitered by the local respiritory clinic for a few years with declining lung volume and my specialist doctor looking very grimly at me for not being at a point of giving up tobacco cigarettes. This was really a very, very bad health condition to be in.

And even with this knowing of how bad my situation was I could not stop. There just was not alot of time to play with in attempting traditional methods of quitting smoking with the attending low success rates of NRT, cold turkey, etc. I did just "happen" upon e-cigarettes watching the movie "The Tourist" with Johnny Depp and his character using an e-cigarette on screen, and from there I started internet researching, asking people, friends about it and got my first starter kit.

I didn't have any real idea on how successful this method would work on stopping smoking for me, but given my grave condition and that this has in fact succeeded, I've been given a true second chance in life and WHEN I needed it. I haven't seen my doctor since started e-cigs, or better said as since quitting smoking, but I'm expecting him to be stunned when I tell him at the next appointment!

This is my general story, withoug going into many details, but just the thing about going from a very degraded health condition to being ecstatic about a "new" life this, is the main story.

PS. i <3 greenlover :)

I know it's double posting and won't do this again, but saves time in relating my particular story here too.

Wow, and I really mean it... just, Wow! I finally ventured over to QSMB, I'm very pleased with the change in tone. I haven't dared venture out of the e-cg subforum yet, though ;)

I had an interesting thought about what John and I posted in the other thread about MAOIs and WTA Liquid. That's something I definitely see in the future for e-cigs as a possibilty for even better success in breaking the smoking dependance for some. Wouldn't it be funny if it lead the pharmaceutical companies to develop more effective NRT products?

Update: Shannon told me I should finally put up an avatar... that's my Scruffy-Windsurf-Dude look, what ya'll think? :)

I think that Texas is lucky that it has a scruffy-windsurf-dude who's as good lookin' as you!

Gee them things hurt. The first time I ever saw one was last year. I made the mistake of letting it crawl on my hand so I could examine it. Boy I still remember how that stung. Not a good idea to do that.

OMG... just the though of one crawling on me makes me want to die!!!!!!

I am not too fond of any insect that flies.

I only need to hear the sound of the buzz near my ear before doing the arm-flailing freakout dance.

Remember...the lower the hum, the bigger the bug.

One time I was getting out of the car with my ex wife, heard the low hum, jumped back in and locked her out until she assured me it was gone...

Yeah, imma wuss

What??? What kind of bug is that? I've never seen a stink bug.

Anybody got a pic?

Only think I've got around here right now is mosquitos! I hate those little buggers.

Come to Texas you'll find out what they are *makes face* you can't smash them I can't even describe the smell if you do...yeah they are aptly named.... another bug that can be very annoying is the love bug.
