I agree, I think giving you opinion will be seen as nothing but starting an argument or baiting - true intention or not. We were given a space to talk about what works for us, we should be using it. Lots of changes have taken place over there for the better, let's not push it. An above all else, katiem deserves nothing other than to be ignored.

I remember the days when we didn't even have an e-cigarette sub-forum. Seems like only yesterday. My concern is how are things in the general and social areas. If its cool there I'd be happy.

I'm sure they are fine. Remember, we're not the "forum police" - it's not our job to change everyone's mind about everything. They are just as vehement in their stand against our beliefs as we are in how they treat other people and we would do well to keep that in mind. Restarting the flame wars over and over is not going to do ANYONE any good. I know this sounds harsh, but I really think we need to lay low for a while and not destroy what we have gained in the interest of being "right".

It seems that for some, no matter what you guys post, they are going to twist your words in order to "justify" an attack. Failing at something doesn't mean you would not have anything meaningful to share; you just might be able to offer an insight to someone to help to not make the same failure.

Fred really needs to step up and start enforcing his own rules for the forum. It seems like the "abuse" is not unique to the "e-cig people", but has been occuring for some time.

I do wonder if he ever even looks at the forum. The funny thing is the posting rules are so simple. But they obviously don't mean anything. Kinda confusing. Maybe Fred likes all the drama.

...sigh...hearing of someone's failure with a certain method can be very beneficial to someone trying that method, not succeeding, and feeling like they are alone. It could help them to find a way to get that method to work for them if they wish to pursue it....or to find another method or alternative.....You can learn from everyone's success and failure....

Good point. I just don't think we're there yet. And with absolutely no moderation we may never get there. I understand why Fred let things run amok at first. We would have all been banned and he would have no forum. But now he needs to either reign people in or give much clearer rules. Unless, of course, he just gets off on all the drama.

I nearly had to slap myself last night... I found myself almost falling for the "doomed to failure" attitude; after all, aren't we all deluding ourselves that we have really quit? /sarcasm

It only lasted for a split second, though! :thumb:

Can you post yet randy? What's up with that?

I have no idea, Gary. With no direct way to contact Fred, there appears to be nothing I can do. I don't want to create a new account under a new email address (I have far to many email account to manage as it is). Even the help desk ticket I created on quitsmoking.com has been ignored.

Were you ever able to post? Or did something change?

Nope, still not able to. My account is active, but any post I make gets the "needs to be approved" screen, and nothing appears in the "View your posts" list. I have 5 or 6 "in the queue".

And that's been going on for some time. And no luck on the help ticket? Maybe we broke the forum. lol

and have you tried to email him? or is there no email address?

I accidently created 2 identical help tickets; no response on either one. The only known email address I have is boardadmin@quitsmokingmessageboard.com. That may only be a send-only address for the activation emai, however.

I can't PM Fred, because you can't use the PM system until you become a full registered member, so I'm stuck in limbo.

MustangSallie is having the same problem. I'm fairly sure that others have signed up and been approved since I did.
