I find it interesting that in the nearly 2 years since I've been vaping, signing up here, reading articles, and making online purchases, I've never received an e-cig related spam email, other than newletters or sales from the vendors I've done business with. But then again, the email systems I use have good spam filters that catches most spam I'd receive otherwise.

I saw her post as nothing more than baiting... one more thing to rail against the e-cig people for.

I have but I was getting them before I joined ECF. That's actually how I 1st realized they existed...lol

ETA: And yeah I agree. It wasn't just a question she insinuated.. in the whole smells bad line or however she put it.

I'd like to know what other ingredients are in that gum, particularly the sweetener.

Something I never brought up over at the QSMB: I've noticed a few people saying they use artificial sweetners or drink diet soda. Aspartame is a proven neurotoxin, highly addictive and is approved by the FDA. First, why aren't they telling people to quit using it since it's far more addictive than nicotine? Second, knowing the FDA has approved this poison for human consumption, why would we ever trust ANYTHING the FDA says?

I for one am GLAD the FDA doesn't have it's hands in the PV industry yet. I trust the folks at KBV to mix me up some good, safe liquid more than I trust the FDA to tell them how they HAVE to do it and what they HAVE to add to it.

Don't get me started on aspertame. LOL! That was a whole lot of BS, as well, TBH. Aspertame was railroaded pretty much in the same fashion as e-cigs and smokeless, IMO. (I did a lot of research on it a couple of months ago and I started here and here. ASCH is unbiased, a supporter of tobacco harm reduction and debunks unscientific health claims and panic-based legislation, so I do trust their opinion.) But it was definitely a lesson in how to influence the FDA (it was bad how it FIRST got approved and then bad how it got banned) and how messed up the FDA really is. But it's a personal decision if you want to avoid it or not - just like nicotine. ;)

I had a whole long post addressing that Cold Turkey thread and the things Diane accused me of, but I decided to PM it to her instead of keeping things going on that thread. Kate has posted after me, but I have her on ignore so I don't know (or really care) what she said. Though I do wish if you had someone on ignore it just hid their posts rather than announcing "THE PERSON YOU IGNORED MADE A POST! Want to see it? Huh? Huh? Do ya'??) lol!

It actually notifies you when somebody on 'ignore' posts? That is obnoxious!

I would never suggest anyone who has stopped smoking just try one to see what happens...

But having said that, it is very common here for people to get curious and try one.
And what almost always happens is that they hate it, think it is disgusting, and realize they never want one again.

It is actually the point at which a lot of people become secure about the fact that they have indeed quit
.

This is EXACTLY what happened to me, and how I know with every fiber of my being that I AM DONE.

Hey Everybody!

Sorry, yesterday was a very sad day for me. One of my oldest cats has been having some really severe health issues. I had to put her down yesterday. I'm heartbroken but know it was the best thing for her so she wouldn't suffer. :(

-lol- has made me laugh today - she's a hoot!

What's been happening over there? I haven't been yet and you know what they say - forewarned is forearmed!

So humour me for a moment please. This just came to me while I was reading the post about blood tests and lower levels of nicotine.

I am in Canada and maybe I should ask this in a Canadian forum, but all of you smoked before right? Do most of you use nicotine? My understanding is that you have moved from cancer causing cigarettes (and the bazillion other chemicals) to PV's to reduce the harm.

It is also my understanding that in Canada - you cannot buy stuff (???) with nicotine in it. So I wonder if all the people in Canada using e-cigs are using them for an alternate reason and if they are using it as an alternative to cigarettes, then why are they not jonesing for nicotine?

I am just really curious now. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow....I am going to ask him his opinion on the electronic cigarette.

Thanks :)

I'm Canadian so I'll answer.

As far as my understanding goes talking with other Canadians on this forum, we are all smokers who picked up ecigs for a variety of reasons - most to quit smoking.

Yes, nicotine ejuice is available in Canada and some of us order from the States or China as well.

Canada has banned the use of ecigs since 2009. However, that being said, Canadians are fighting that ban at this very moment.

My doctor is very supportive of my use of an ecig. He helped me come up with a step down plan but he said he didn't care if I used it the rest of my life with nicotine because I wasn't killing myself with all of the other chemicals in cigs. He's a great guy - always trying to keep up with every new treatment or technology to help his patients.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Kat! I know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet.

Things are actually getting better over there, in spite of the best efforts of a very few members (including a couple our own).

I just uploaded my avatar, too. Maybe they'll soften with a smiling face on my posts, rather than imagining me with devil horns! ;)

Very freaking sadly, I have to agree. I didn't think after all we been through they would not see the post for what it was.. an opinion in a thread that was on topic. I guess It will take a very long time for some to come around and treat us as equals if ever.

Evening friends and lovers (you know who you are...) had another long day and I hope you all are doing well. Time to play catch up.

And with that said, I DO think it's a good idea if we stay out of the other "method" sections. We have our own section there and they know who we are, any post we make in the other sections will be viewed as an attempt to sway people to ecigs, no matter what the poster's intentions are. Keep it to the main board, socializing and the ecig section IMO.

Hey Clay K

kinda rhymes

That summer that you spent in Wichita do you remember if you went to the River Festival. I have been so busy on here and elsewhere I didn't even realize it started today.

It's a River Festival. The ballpark (ferris wheel, carnival stuff) Is one block from me. Right out my front door so to speak.

Then on other side of the ballpark is the RIVER. You can't imagine how packed my neighborhood gets. I had to go to the store so I could get home in time to park at my own house. LOL

It is one of my favorite times of the year. So many fine sights .... and that's all l'm sayin' bout that. LOL So I love to sit on my porch and visit. I talk to more people this one week than I do the remainder of the year. Course that was before forums.

But I will be online some of course. The weekends are the heavy draw times. Tonight and next Saturday especially.

Back in a bit. Just wanted everybody to know that lack of nicotine has not killed me yet. Just think before long itwill have been 24 hours. The first day I have been totally nic free for at least 20 years.

PS ... expect some pictures probably

I'm gonna let you in ona lil secret.. for me anyway.. I dont crave the nicotine either.. and i use it. since I have started using e-cigs, i don't get the type of cravings i did with cigarettes.. there is some kind of craving at times, but it's very mild and mostly i think it is more of a wanting to respond to a trigger than a nicotine craving. I think we are really far more addicted to all the other chemicals in tobacco then they lead us to believe.. i think the tobacco industry did this on purpose. Consider, if it's true and widely publicized that we are very addicted to tons of things in cigarettes - the tobacco industry would be in a lot more hot water than they are now.. allowing and admitting that one chemical, nicotine is the only bad guy in the bunch is a form of damage control. These are just my opinions, but i have never seen any e-cig user say they have really strong nic fits and the e-cigs make those heavy fits go away. Perhaps those people in Canada who use the e-cig are kicking everything, and just continue to use it because it satisfies the triggers.

FJohn's posts are not generally short when he says anything of even slight importance...that's just John.

Hey Bud, are you saying I talk/post too much? I mean.. I have often been told I have a gift for gab.. don't think so myself but its true, I have been in sales and done really well because of course I have a big mouth. I can talk the ears off an elephant if they would just sit still long enough. I don't know why i do this. I don't try to be long winded, but somehow I feel I just have to get all the info out. I feel if I pass up anything I am doing the reader a disservice. I don't want to be right, just thorough. i was a really shy child and would not speak to anyone in school and it took me a long time to get out of my shell Are you still reading this? I bet your still reading this because your a really nice person and I am just making stuff up now to make this post really long so I can tease you about your comment. seriously, I think one of the defining moments in my life was meeting William Shatner of star trek at a convention. Well i didn't actually meet him cus but wanted to, the line was too long and the party I was with had to go, but i stared at him for a while wishing to meet him. He looked right at me and i felt in some ways we had met. That's when i decided i wasn't ever gonna let something i wanted or had to say go by ever again. i had to go after and get what i wanted. Well it doesn't always work that way but i was so ...... at not meeting him that it had a big effect on me. He's my hero.. er was.. now he's kinda old and funky. Still reading this? Gawd, if ya made it this far you deserve an A ++ Your a better woman than I I'll tell ya that right there. <grin>

Well John, I can't say the same thing. I STILL have a nicfit if I don't vape for a while. Granted - I can go for a longer period of time than when I was smoking, but, the urge is still there.

Case in point, today while out with my daughter's kindergarten class I didn't vape, but the nicfit started and got worse as the day went on. I had to sneak out while they were doing an activity to have a vape. Didn't immediately feel better, but it did kick in and I continued on.

I wish I wasn't addicted to nicotine, but I am. But at least I'm not smoking.

If I can cut down the nicotine to zero I will be a happy girl.
