Mel I love you!!!
She is awesome, isn't she? You too Shannon. I have a hard time finding anything I don't like about your posts on the Q board.
Mel I love you!!!
I was just over reading -lol-'s blog and noticed that she had this to say:
The other day, I was reading a thread in the forums about some "anti-smoking" people who are, incredibly, strongly opposed to e-cigarettes.
For some, this is fixable, a simple matter of education.
For others, it's not about ignorance, but belief. You can't argue with a belief, nor can you educate it away. Maybe the believer can, but that's another topic.
Some may believe that belief and reason may have had a common ancestor back in autotroph days. (I was so young then, I don't remember).
Today, any shared heritage is forgotten, and belief doesn't even recognize the existence of reason, much less respond to it.
What do you think? Is she right? Because of their "belief" will they ever see the good that ecigs are?
I think she is also right. I have a friend who talks continuously about her religion. It is not my religion nor will it ever be and it is not something I believe in - and don't see myself changing that belief. However, I do listen to her and I am not ignorant when she speaks. I am knowledged about something else now that I was not before.
And that is what bothers me the most right now - you believe what you want - you don't have to believe what someone else is telling you - that is the great thing about free will and I will always fight for people to have the right to their beliefs, whether I agree with them or not.
I agree with no nicotine, but that is me and that is what I wanted. (emphasis on I). I agree that other individuals have had success working on the habit first and then losing the nicotine. I agree that the actual act of inhaling those chemicals in the form of cigarette smoke is killing people and I now agree that if you cannot quit - because they are out there - that using an e-cigarette is better than continuing to smoke.
I like everyone - kumbyah...LOL.
No.... but that's not a bad idea considering... know any good strawberry shortcake vapes?

Halp! I'm being eaten by one of the evil twins!
You're standing your ground quite nicely!
I don't want to change their minds about the method they choose to use to quit. never. I do respect and understand that if that's what you need, if that is what works for you that's fine. They do not show me, perhaps us the same respect. They hate that I can give an opinion that may cause them to to have a harder time making converts to their method of choice. I believe this law of addiction stuff may be what some folks need. I also see it become an addiction and a religion in itself. They cannot see it they are too close to it.
As with anything that gains cult status, I think logic and reason can over come and change belief. But that's a very long hard road. Belief right or wrong is deep seated and is a culmination of experiences over a lifetime. Something led them to that point where they choose and accepted a belief. You'd not only have to undo the knowledge from that belief but cause the person to change their perception about their experiences that led them to that belief.
The problem is you're convinced you're right, and they're convinced they're right. It's a Mexican standoff.
lmao... no I meant one of the kittens...hehe

Sheeeeee's baa'aack
