Everything came out and when I tried to shove it back in, the cup at the top went off kilter and it seems to sit a little sideways.

My camera's batteries are dead otherwise I'd post a picture for you to see.

I don't know if it's still usable. Is it?

And yes, there is a small crack at the bottom of the tube.

It should still be usable once you get the seal reseated. Just make sure the cutouts in the seal line up with the slots in the ceramic cup, and use a small flat-ended tool to work your way around the seal to push it down onto the cup. Hold it by the base, not the tube, otherwise you can push everything back out again.

Homeish now
Morning (here) All,

Good to see the thread's still rocking along, and being read by lolady!

At the bottom of the page there's a section called "Thread Information" which shows who's browsing the thread. Most names are blue (as I look now) but one is purple and one red. Anybody know the significance of the colours?

Cheers

The name colors are ranks
dark red ='s forum admin
teals = super mods
greens = mods

blue or red = regular member
purple = supporting member
Burgundy = veteran

That the gist of it, but there are a few exceptions and a couple special colors...like Roly is an Admin but is Blue and some of the forum skins seem to mess the colors up.

Okay Randy, I'm going to give it a try. Wait! Questions . . .

Will the bottom crack matter? Can I glue it? Or should I just throw it away and pull out another?

Or save it for spare parts? (that's the hoarder part of me talking) lol

I've had good results with wrapping the end with the crack with cellophane tape (the very clear, non-stretchy kind). I found it extended the life of my older thinner tubes. Just wrap a couple of turns, then use a razor blade to trim it off flush.

I tried superglue on one... it didn't really work, plus I was concerned about it coming into contact with my juice. GotVapes has a "safe" glue for sale, but I haven't read any feedback on it yet.

Worst case, definitely save the inner part if it's still working well. You can buy replacement tubes, and some have used 3CC BD syringes as a replacement. I tried that, but it seemed to give the juice a bit of an off taste.

Good to know about the tape Randy. I had the super glue in my hand - good thing I read what you said first.

I didn't know you could buy replacement tubes. I'll have to check that out in case this becomes a disaster of major proportion!

Speaking of "hoarding", I'm hanging on to the 2 of mine that went bad. On one, the coil burned out (it flashed like a light bulb when they burn out), and on the other, the wick finally wore out after many dry burns. It wouldn't be that hard to completely rebuild them with new wicking/nichrome wire. Not that I'll ever get around to it, but I tend to hoard electronics parts; I have parts in my various junk boxes that go back to the late '70s! ;)

You ever have one of those moments where a taste or a smell triggers a childhood memory?

I just had one of those moments...

When I was little, Dr. Pepper was my favorite soda. I didn't get to have it very often, so it was definitely a "treat". Dr. Pepper now doesn't taste anything like it used to. I tend to avoid it like the plague.

Today, my wife bought a case of "Heritage" Dr. Pepper (sugar instead of corn syrup). Holy crap that stuff is awesome! Took me right back to my childhood.

Adams sour orange gum..so they still make that?

Oooooooh, I don't remember the sour orange, but I definitely remember the sour apple and sour grape. Staples of my childhood! I found some not long ago and it wasn't as good now as it was then, unfortunately. May have been at World Market?
