Thanks Orly. Sometimes I speak matter of factly because that's what I believe and it rubs folks the wrong way - but these things I believe about history are from researching the subjects beyond what they teach you in a class room. Here we are trying to help people stop smoking and that's a good noble thing but I hate to think of all the other terrible things we cannot help.

kalvinf, Tell me.. this upper more English part of Canada.. does it have English babes that speak with English accents? I'm a sucker for a pretty English female voice - I may never get to England but Canada I can do.. I just gotta keep North.

I wish The Native Americans (called Indians) would do that here. This land is their land from the Redwood Forrest to the New York islands. This land was stolen from then by white Europeans.

Worked at a pizza place when I was a teenager they kept telling me I would end up hating pizza .....Nope!!! hey its all the food groups in one...2 slices is a good meal...
I worked at a pizza place for years while growing up.

Started as a busboy, then making pizzas, then cashier, then deliveries, then night shift manager.
Never got tired of pizza for even one second.
:)

Delivering pizzas is the best job I ever had, or ever will have, or ever could have.
There is no better job in the world.

Thanks, John. I like the fact that you are always trying to give a helping hand. That's great. Thanks a lot in Jesus Christ. Orly

There was one main battle in Canada between French and English circa 1760 in Quebec City and thereafter French and English had relative peace with their respective territories of Lower Canada and Upper Canada - Quebec and Ontario.
Vancouverites as wannabe French - at least the people you say this to will understand you are American lol

I don't think I've interacted with you but my humor was deliberately meant to sound ignorant based on the recent Vancouver hockey riots where some reporting and blogging was done about drunken anarchists and those who want Quebec to secede. -Magnus

Perhaps shame was too strong a word but really.. I feel for them.. everything they had was taken by force and given to someone else.. now as a people, they are scattered and losing their heritage. Same thing is happening to the people of Hawaii. If I had a time machine and the means to do it, I'd go back and stop this from happening. i'd stop a few other things too like The Crusades, The Holocaust and Christopher Columbus and his men murdering the Haitian people and almost wiping them out for their gold. History writers often make thugs like Chris to be heroes. How does one not feel for these people and the wrongs that were done to them? The passage of time does this. We celebrate Columbus Day but not Native American Day, that's disgusting IMO.

By these metrics you'd have to undo most of known Western European, Central American, South American, African, and Asian Civilization. Cherry-picking these particular examples underscores your various biases and perhaps historical ignorance (What about the Moors? Mongols? What are you doing about Darfur _TODAY_? Did you forget the Greeks, Caliphate, and the Ottomons? Greeks and India?). Is your sense of Arcadian superiority due to the fact that, for geographic reasons, you avoided invasion and direct involvement in thousands of years of both sides of conquest, invasion, liberation, and politics? Oh wait... you didn't.

How many regional and ethnic groups during the time periods you are talking about didn't apply their power in ways that we'd consider by today's standards misguided, irrational, and full of zealotry?

On top of all that you don't acknowledge that many sessions of Congress and the Executive have continuously expanded Native American and Native Alaskan recognition while simultaneously stopping ~all~ further Federal Holidays based on economic grounds almost entirely. Undoing existing Federal Holidays has been proposed numerous times and may indeed one day gain traction for both economic and historical reasons.

Native American Heritage Month

That used to be just a week. And before that just individually proclaimed days.

There is A LOT of history everybody would like to go back and redo in a vacuum. Unfortunately that's not how time and space work.

What we can do is make sure that what remains is preserved and we learn from history. We might even be able to mend some of what Andrew Jackson's only great gaff created. Heck, did you know that just the other day the Feds violated the sovereignty of Native lands as part of the Drug War?

Thanks Orly. Again, absolute language and inferred superiority. Those that disagree are just not agreeing with you because we didn't go outside the classroom? Oh wise one, where were we educated? Born? What are our ethnic and historical backgrounds? What volunteer service do we do? What seminars or conferences have we attended?

Not to mention somehow you've now brought smoking into the mix of geopolitical injustice.

I appreciate your sense of humanity but you need to salt it with a sense of reality if you actually want to effect change. Nothing you said would give one iota of relief to Native Americans, Haitians, Aborigines, Polynesians, the majority of Africa, the Amazon basin, etc.

As someone, who in my lifetime, has had to flee a country, lost a family member due to religious persecution, has been politically abused, and has stood alongside Native Americans fighting for their sovereignty and history you are repeating lines that we call YNH lines. "You're not helping"...

In fact, The United States has invaded more countries with hostile intent than any other country in history. There is a really neat book about this that lists them all and facts about each invasion but I forget the name at the moment.

I haven't gone through our complete history of invasions but I find it hard to believe we've passed both The Roman and Brittsh Empires.

It's a patently absurd notion propagated by a lack of historical perspective and scales of society. I'll give you an example using Ancient Persia. If you broke up countries and regions like we did today then the Persian Empire not only was the largest by land mass occupied but far FAR more "successful" than the later British and American combined.

There are, however, many books that do present data from a perspective and with metrics to support John's blanket statement. One of them is "America's Splendid Little Wars"... so I doubt he made it up, I'm sure he actually has read that perhaps numerous times.

Cherry-picking situations and numbers without factoring available technology, the politics of the day, alliances, etc. can be done by anybody to provide "history" for any position. The greater question is, given we know everyone has done wrong, can we move toward doing more right? We haven't even demonstrated that as a larger society yet although we're increasingly moving that way due to inter-connectivity and free communication. Governments haven't done it for us so we're doing it. -Magnus

Thats why I'm of the opinion that govt should stay out of the solution buisness leave it to linked NGO groups linked by the internet...We are 1) More efficient...
2) More likely to be free of corruption(well no such thing but at least less than govt) 3) more in tune with what needs to be done NOW rather than having some committee hash it out for a month before trying to help...

Ahhh yes I forgot about the Persians. I wasn't thinking more along the lines that the information wasn't entirely accurate than that he just made it up.

Good Morning All,
Been catching up on your posts...You guys are too funny lol, with the history posts about Americans and Canadians..EH? For those of you that may not know much about Canada, here's a little fun I had yesterday..lol, lol, lol.

Funny_Pictures_1115.jpg

Now that we have the fun outta the way EH, I'll ask what I actually came on here for..

Had a fun aft with a buddy who still smokes and we tipped back a few, maybe too many brewski's as I didn't drive home. lol.
Anyway I did post on Randy's thread over on NSF about my Bud and that we discussed an ecig yesterday. I started the thread by asking Randy, but please anyone that has some info for me to give him I'd be pleased if you addressed the post...No Smoking Forum • View topic - Please Beware of Electronic Cigarette "Free Trials"

From what I can see nic juice might be a bit difficult to get in Canada at the moment, but perhaps one of you over there can give me some good info regarding this. We were going to get him a pv here from a vendor I found, but, no nic juice, so he didn't want to be bothered going. Can't say I blame him.

Anyone that has some good info re models and juice, perhaps an idea of price, I'd appreciate a response on that thread. And we're wondering if we can just buy online from the U.S. and not have any problems getting it sent up. Would it also be cheaper?

ACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!! It cannot be unseen! OH NOES!!!

I won't recommend gear but I suggest you wander over to the Canada regional forum part of ECF to see how people are dealing with import and customs. The stories have ranged from epic success to a few failures. You might also consider the Canada dedicated ECF ~Classifieds~ as a resource as you narrow down what you want. Cheers, -Magnus
