It was the first paragraph that did it for me John. I couldn't even get past that one to read the second two.

They are the true Sovereigns of this land. They are the Prince, Princesses, Kings and Queens of America. We should treat them as such.

I don't feel a need to treat anyone as a prince, princess, king or queen, unless the same consideration is given to me. Just one of the many reasons I am happy to live in the age that I do.

I feel shame for what was stolen from them.

I also don't feel shame or guilt about something that I personally didn't do, and I'm curious why anyone would. And it isn't a refusal to feel guilty, I just don't.

I do thank God my ancestors came from Arcadia and not Europe.

My ninth great grandfather was William Bradford. If you don't know who he is, you might want to look him up.

I also have Hessian French ancestors who also arrived in the 1600's.

I'm very proud of my family's heritage, just as everyone has the right to be of theirs.

Psssst... all of the 9 have been dead for quite some time, even my grandfather isn't living anymore. Only father's day card to send these days is Dad's (and I'm very happy I still have that).

That'll save on postage.

It boogles my mind you know all the way back to that time.

I'd have to track into Sweden for my father's side from the 1870's and back.

My mother's side- I found some on the rolls of Bergen Belsen but that was all the further I looked.

No one to ask anymore on either side.

I guess it was a history that was important in my family from the beginning (eleven generations ago beginning I mean). It was just something we grew up knowing. The family bible, other various records and documents and a great-great grandmother who lived to 103 and loved genealogy and passed that along to my grandmother helped keep it alive for us, and it's something that we'll pass along to our children now. This is all on my father's side.

One of my sisters is now busy researching my mother's side. I think she hasn't even made it back to my mom's great-great grandmother yet. This side will be much tougher to track down. We have vague idea of Irish and English decent on my mom's side, but no details beyond that.

Genealogy is important to my family as well and my father has the records to prove it. He showed me once that he had been able to trace back to circa the 11th century and William the Conqueror. Apparently there is a lot of French and British royalty on my mother's side.

Lucky me...My family has kept in touch with their roots......I know back to several generations before coming here(North America) my Genealogy and some not proud of...and some I am surprised to know that gave me a fresh insight into life in my childhood...My Great Grandmother was Sioux Indian...

But "Those who do not know their History are doomed to repeat it..."

I know mine and the histories of a good many others...Every one of us has a few skeletons in the closet...the difference is I know what all of them are...:blink:Meh still not me...

Behind you
Perhaps shame was too strong a word? I'd like to know just what I said that you disagree with - I made 3 separate strong statements in the above.. Did you disagree with all of them? I'm not afraid of examining the truth for it is Truth that sets us free.

You used such absolute and judgmental language I'm not sure you leave room for perspective, balance, or truth. I have guests tonight so I missed this but absolutely would have backed Nate up.

As for me, I think I will trust the more objective, grounded in today, and less bombastic opinions of my Native American friends and clients. And continue to help them preserve their history, their sovereignty, and use their experiences and diversity to improve the larger American community.

I had to step away to peck this much out. I'm returning to my guests now.

+1 on blackberry cheesecake.

but....

Dill pickle e-juice? :p

I love dill pickles. When I finish eating a jar of them, I drink the juice. I'm just about to try it now. Can't find a clean atty though. How do you think dill pickle with a trace of pink lemonade is going to taste?
