Yes, C++ started out in a similar fashion for me. Thank goodness I was 12 years in at that point and I figured it out.

I still stuggle with C++ but can do most things in java - same thing with objects but the C++ framework makes me want to run down the street screaming and ____ !

Behind you
Mobile computing is making old techniques relevant again as well. You just don't have the computing power or memory available as you do with desktop apps.

I'm going to let my disagreement with that one slide because I've been disagreeable enough recently. ;-)

I think you're right but not because of available power and memory. The Android powered dual-core (and by Q1 2012) quad-code ARM processors. And Intel's Q3 Atom mobile units has an absurd amount of power and memory available to them. But their failure rate in software reliability is still unusually high along with some bad sandboxing software. So they will indeed take a step back to olden times for some refreshers in how to close the loop. -Magnus

p.s. Mention Angry Birds for bonus points. I still don't have any idea what that is all about but it's bloody everywhere.

From the original Who I'm tied between Baker and Peter Davidson... from new Who I'm firmly in the Smith camp now. -Magnus

I'm light on the early seasons, seen all the current seasons. Matt Smith is certainly good, kinda propted up with Karen Gillan though. Tennant had alot of great companions and so far Smith has 1 1/2 counting Rorry.

Torchwood at all?

Indeed, looking forward to the upcoming season... and also the plans to bring Captain Jack back into Who for a few episodes. -Magnus

Yeah Captain Jack and all that rogue energy he has. A new season of Torchwood is in the making and the crossover episodes with Dr Who are memorably good.

Old is anyone who is 20 years or more your senior... :)

I WAS having a pretty good day. Shuffled my way to the Cardiologist today and got a great report from that kid. I was feeling pretty spry ....till I came here. My old ancient, tired eyes must be giving way too because all I have seen here is some kind of gibberish for the last 10 pages. Must need new spectacles.

Awh, you're never disagreeable Magnus. And I mostly agree with your disagreement and assessment of where the actual limitations are. My post was just a little too glib, but I think essentially we're saying the same thing.

ETA: you and I are in the same boat re: Angry Birds. I know what it is, but not even a small clue what it's about.

Now, how to get my husband to try an e-cig... He's got a stress test coming up next week. It was supposed to be this week, but I'm traveling again this week and we decided to postpone it until I get home just in case he "fails" it. :(

He hasn't even tried yours?

Not unless he's given it a go while I haven't been around. I was hoping there would be some interest, but I haven't seen any. At least not yet. At least he's supportive of it for me though, so he's not negative about it. Of course I quickly moved away from tobacco and he's not exactly a pear marzipan, or black licorice kind of guy. If he ever does take it up, I see him chasing the elusive "just like my old tabacco" flavor. Maybe in time...

Yeah, you know when you walk in a room sober and everyone else is stoned out of their minds laughing - I kinda feel just like that right now. I have NO idea what you are talking about (I saw Jeopardy - I get that one).

Man I feel like I had a coffee and a Red Bull and am now hearing colours.

Hi guys! Hope you are all well. I am making the rounds this evening...popping in and saying hello to everyone, having a wee bit o' vodka and watching the train wreck that is The Bachelorette. I can't seem to turn the channel. I have 3 more working days and will be on Staycation. I NEED it in a big way.

Nice "seeing" you all!
