Is it me, or has the Q quietened down?

er, well it had... Hecates post might stir things up. At least it's not e-cig related.

The one about the designer snuff? Why doesn't he just come on over here?

There was a point last week where just peeking over there, it looked like more of the focus was on the conflict resulting from the modern world coming to Walton's Mountain than there was on renouncing nicotine and all his works.

Maybe that gave them pause, and they decided to let the demon-huffing lizards lounge, and get back to doing what they do.

Going to sit on my hands now, I'm in a cantankerous mood right now, and I don't want to go violating the treaty... ;)

That will be interesting, since snus could be considered "furthering the nicotine cessation debate", yet it would look rather out of place in the ecig section, not having batteries and all.

John's back for a few posts so far as well. :)

EDIT: heh, and there he is ^^^

What the frack is going on with Steph and katiem and all that bashing in Bunny's thread? wow. Way to turn off a newbie.. you think they planned it to discourage people from getting the help they need.

It is depressing isn't it? I've directed some thoughts at katiem recently, haven't received a return volley so far.

<sigh>

What the frack is going on with Steph and katiem

It's taken me months to be able to identify the people there, because of the way their little conversation boxes are structured, but the other night I finally figured out, that a couple of them are just plain afraid of new, afraid of change, the place that was familiar will be different.

I can smell that stuff on people, because I'm not without it myself. It's not easy to adapt to, I really did have nightmares about cell phones for years. Blinging out their little clothes gave me some consolation, but since last free upgrade, the only clothes available for mine are made of silicone, to which nothing sticks.

Anyway, what I was thinking is that maybe they should think of doing a spin-off board, because I'm sure there are other people there who are just a little more adept at adapting, but would really love something with a more ancien regime zeitgeist, redolent of a simpler time, before all these patches and pills and now even electric things, that are flagrantly used for pleasure!

Oh, that reminds me, do you all know that's how Chantix works? It deadens the part of the brain that makes pleasure possible! This is why some people react to it by becoming werePanthers from Hotshot! And why so many companies are interested in it in combination with the current virtually endless low to no-cost labor force!

Oops. Shutting up now, sorry if any of that was supposed to be secret...

Ohh I get it now.
Chantix is used to create "zombified folks"
just like a lobotomy but without the ice pick eh?
lolady was that a secret about how some of those zombiefolk over "dat place" was made?:p
C.B..
Noooo, they can feel pleasure over there, they are just dedicated to overcoming it, freeing themselves from desire for it, etc.

The personnel applications of Chantix would have to do with workers who weren't able to feel it, so they wouldn't mind not having it.

But like so many theories, in actual practice it gets complicated. In the case of Chantix, that would be people who are aware that they're unable to feel pleasure, and have memories of having felt it, and don't even know they are not supposed to be able to feel it because of the Chantix, whcih they thought would just remove the desire for cigarettes.

It doesn't. It just removes the pleasure if they smoke one. Or if they do any number of other things that previously gave them pleasure...

Now you know Beth, I never said other methods were outdated.. just not for everyone just as e-cigs are not for everyone. I know people over there were helped by them, i'm not disagreeing with that.. those people were helped because they wanted to quit using those same methods. Someone comes into the e-cig forum to try to quit that way and they, Bunny, got chased off by all the fighting that was caused by Stephenie and katiem. That's just not right. Us e-cig folks don't go to the other sub forums and chase people off who want help.

Well to me if someone really WANTED to quit smoking they'd keep at it or go elsewhere-after all the web is full of sites & all sorts of methods. Those who tuck tail & run most likely aren't really to commit to never ever smoking cigs again & for those theirs E cigs path to check out or when their ready they're return.

Beth, I think I understand what you're trying to say but I'm surprised you'd say it, especially coming from the Q board. Something like 90% of the posts against e-cigs over there are about the vile addiction to nicotine. About addiction more generally. And while an addict must make the choice to stop that hardly means it's a choice they make with a whole heart or full force. It frequently, or I'd wager more often than not, takes open arms to let them get over 'thinking that they want to quite' to 'wanting to quit'....

So you may only get ONE shot at these people. Just one. So the environment being cultivating and nurtured at the Q board with this vitriol really could be sending people out for good. Until it's too late. For people who preach so much about addiction, they should know at least that much. -Magnus
