I know suspended implies temporary, but I've seen it used to indicate permanent bans before.:(

FYI:
Sinbin = 3 days
Suspended = 7 day
Moved on = Forever
Banned (all variants) = Forever

mods will not discuss actions against members to anyone other than the member, and there are procedures in place for that on the contact page.

That is all I can say on the subject, but you did ask a valid question so I felt it deserved a reply :)

I hate to sound like pessimist and downplay anything you (DC2) and others have done here, but can you really say Hecates or Orly have quit smoking? Orly just got started with his PV. I think it's a bit early to call that a success story. Heck... I've been doing this for over two months and I'm not sure I would call myself a success story.

I also have a serious concern about some of the numbers being thrown about by Kristin and others about how successful a PV is in helping one quit smoking. How are these numbers determined? By surveys that CASAA sends out? Who do they send them to? People that registered at CASAA? People actively participating here? Either group (CASAA members or active ECF members) is probably a bit more "hardcore" than the average Joe on the street. Have surveys of those individuals been done?

I think harm reduction is a noble goal and I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from continuing to fight for it. It just seems to me that we're a bit quick to congratulate ourselves about the positives and quicker yet to dismiss the negatives.

*scratches head* I'm really unsure you guys are following the right people around. I'm just a few shell scripts cobbled together by Sarge to post ePipeMods pictures and random stories cobbled together by the discarded bits of good stories.

MadMac is just the ~other~ voice in Sarge's head. So which or both or neither of us? -Magnus ver Mangus Magnum

UHHH Magnus....I was the voice in your head warning of a trap...

and you added me to everyones head...and no I'm not going back to find the post to quote...these guys post too much...

as to voices in Sarges head...hmm Hey Gunny do you have voices in your head...I hope not...and I definitely feel srry for ya if I'm one of them...I don't want me in my own head let alone someone else's...too much work sorting all the extraneous data some times...any normal might crack under the onslaught...

Methinks she is from Minnesota, which explains the Wisconsin, Iowa, and Old Dutch comments. :)

When I was growing up it was always a fight for #1 between Iowa and either WI or MN on the education front. Now Iowa has slipped back a notch or two, dunno who is top dog these days.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong Neriah!

Yes, I am a Minnesota born and bred but my heart is in Arizona.

I grew up with silly jokes about Iowa and Wisconsin.

They were just good natured teasing. Never really thought people from either state where horrible, dumb, etc...

Heck I cheered for the Green Bay Packers when they went to the Super Bowl.

All valid points and concerns Nate. I'm coming at it from my own point of view. If there is ever evidence of serious health risks, I'll have to reevaluate, but based on what I know now, I know that I won't smoke again as long as e-cigs are available. I like this well enough and it satisfies every need that cigarettes ever gave me. I think my husband is doing remarkably well so far, and not smoking is not something I ever thought I would see for him. The jury is still out for my husband, but this is more progress then I've ever seen him make. That's all I wanted, was a chance to say this works for me.

I don't, he has nurtured the environment with implicit agreement via inaction. If the latest rounds didn't deserve some of his "own" being disbanded, nothing ever will. So he is a fraudulent operator by his own posted rules. -Magnus

Honestly, I wonder if it is not one the other admins doing stuff and Fred not aware/involved.

There were a couple of people with admin rights there.

As bad as it was for you guys, I think it was a success. A few we know of, plus at least putting the idea in the heads of many others. I quit trying to figure out Fred sometime ago; his actions or lack thereof make no sense.

On another note, I got my GV VV Ego Passthru a bit ago; I love it. My Sapphire works much better at 3.7V.

Behind you
MadMac is getting ahead of himself. Sarge has but to issue a kill -15 and we'll both shutdown for VIm editing (Sarge has too much class to use Emacs). We get out of hand and the kill -9 will be issued with severe prejudice. ;-)

---

I hope Kristin will return and answer both Nate's post and my prior one. I'd like to better understand the operating procedures, vetting processes, input/outputs, etc. of CASAA's world. It would be interesting to understand how it relates to what 'we' do on our own and how, as an advocacy group, it reflects the growing ranks of vapers. -Magnus

Uh oh, Magnus... Your script buddy is becoming "self aware."

I have been the shadow on the wall and the one to pull victory from the jaws of defeat...Self aware...Hmm more than I care to be and less than I am capable...there is much I ignore or stamp down ...I am not perfect nor am I innocent despite my general appearance...and as I get older that certain naivete fades replaced by a cold hatred of fools and fiends....

I love all those I share this world with but some I cannot forgive...there is someone much larger/greater than me who has that job...mine is to achieve that for which I was brought here to do...I am unsure of how close I am but the time draws near for which I was meant to shine.....

I started with next to nothing but I shall not remain that way...and in the end I cannot take it with me so I will end with nothing as well.....

and no Magnus I am not a number...I have gone global...I am everywhere...and I am watching....

Yes, he went in by 0830. I was out the door by 0615. He sounded tired when I talked to him but he was doing okay. He should be home by 8pm I guess.

Well that's good news, but that's some commute!

err... or long work day, or something....

It's worse than I initially feared. MadMac is SkyNet...

So are you thinking we were just allowed to remain in order to increase traffic?
I can certainly see that as a plausible explanation.

There are so many things that just don't add up to anything for me though...
--New electronic cigarette posters being prevented from joining
--Banning respectful people (Roland) for one small mistake
--Allowing controversial people to stick around indefinitely

Some of it points to increased traffic, but some of it maybe not.
There are so many things that don't add up, it just seems like funny math to me.

You know DC...even though I used to be a member there, I have yet to figure that one out myself. There's something so strange about that whole thing I can't even get my head around it.

Not to mention strangest of all...when he set up the subforum for you guys. That one was a strange one for me. And then the bans...over the years I seldom ever saw anyone banned there..They just don't do that. And then the ones they banned from here.. I couldn't believe it. Mind you..there's about five I can think of immediately on that board that should have been banned years ago..:laugh:

However it's not my idea of a support board. They've lost more quits by chasing them off than saved.

Bah, I don't care that they banned me, it just shows what illogical folk they are. In fact I'm so proud of being banned there that I just became a supporting member so I could trumpet my banned-ness to the world! :)

(Actually, I've been meaning to become "supporting" for a while, and I just noticed that the quit meter will roll over the $5,000 saved sometime today, which wouldn't have happened without this forum. Time to give something back.)

Sorry about CB, but glad to hear it's only temporary. This too shall pass.

Cheers
