I had the strangest "wrong number" yesterday...

Picked up the phone and the caller asked "Hi, do you sell dartboards?" (I'm just a private house, no sort of business at all).
I said "No, why do you ask?"
He said "I'm looking for a dartboard for my girlfriend's birthday, she plays competitively and I know nothing about them so I'm looking for advice."

Nothing all that remarkable so far, except that I happen to know a great deal about the sport of darts, having played it off and on for about 40 years.

I spent the next 20 minutes or so explaining to him all about the various sorts of dartboards and darts, and why he should buy one type as apposed to another, he was extremely grateful. It was a very strange call!

I offered to go onto eBay for him and see if I could find some gear that matched his needs but he said it was too late, his girlfriend's birthday was on the 10th August. Another coincidence, that's my birthday too.

I said I'm new to town and couldn't recommend a bricks and mortar store for him to try, but most sports stores would probably stock them, did he know a good one? He said he'd try the one where he buys his snooker cues and accessories. Guess what, I play snooker too. (I tend to like sports that can be played while drinking! )

Dunno why I'm relating all this really, it just seemed very odd, in a fun way!

110 degrees here today maybe more too hot to look it might make it feel worse...When will it rain one of my shoes actually melted on asphalt today...

Oh, sorry to hear that, I thought it must have been cooling down, I haven't seen any news coverage here recently and we were getting quite a lot of it a couple of weeks ago. My wife regularly TiVo's Good Morning America (we get it via satellite on PayTV) in case there are any big news stories breaking, I'll take a look later.

Weather's pretty pleasant here, a little rain about and a max of 15c expected today.

I just wanted to give a heads up on a neat little feeder system that went on sale today. It's called the Drip on Demand and it can be seen here:

One of our regular posters in this thread graciously sent me one a while back to test. This little device works really well. It's sturdy, inexpensive, and hassle free.

Just prime your atomizer with a few drops and insert the DoD into it. I always give it a squeeze to get it "flowing." Then just vape and pretty much forget it. You may occasionally have to give it another squeeze but it pretty much just feeds by itself.

Pretty awesome. With the rules about suppliers and such I don't think I should mention which member came up with this neat idea. But I think he'll be adding it to his signature when he gets approval.

Anyway just wanted to pass this along. For anyone who likes to direct drip but doesn't like all the hassle it would be a neat mod to get. It sure works good for me.

She's trying, but I'm hard to buy for. I'm in the very fortunate position of having everything a man could reasonably wish for. (We're not rich or anything, I just have fairly modest aspirations).

She bid on ebay for a 17th century document signed by Charles II of England, and Samuel Pepys the diarist (I collect Samuel Pepys memorabilia) but got beaten out by a couple of hundred bucks.

I'm toying with getting an iPad but doubt I'd use it enough to justify it. Ceramic chef's knives are another thought, but I've already got Wusthof's that really should last me till I die, so who needs 'em? I'd just like to have a play with them to see if I liked them.

TV's, TiVos, home theatre gear are all taken care of, no upgrades required. There's just nothing I really want or need.

It's a damned lucky man who can say that!

What sort of atomisers should I get? Is there anything else I need? (I'm currently using cartos/clearos on a Provari and eGo bats, no knowledge of dripping at all.)

I'm kind of a noob myself so others can probably answer this better. I have been using a LR atomizer. It measures at 1.8 ohms. I got two of them in a kit I ordered a while back. They work well on my T-Rex but they do tend to get a little "hot." I just take smaller draws and let it cool after two pulls.

I have ordered some regular ohm atomizers which should be here tomorrow. Looking forward to giving them a go.

Right now I really like the 2 ohm Vapage hybrid atomizer (vapage.com). Normally I use Boge atomizers. Right now vapelite.info has the 2.8 and 2 ohm versions for $3.50 each. Don't know if they ship to AU though.

I feel for you. It's been really pleasant this summer here. Only one or two days of triple digits and we seem to be struggling to even make it into the 90s. More rain than normal too.

At least we're passed the solstice. Days are getting shorter now.

I didn't care for the Bauway attys. The draw was a bit too stiff for my tastes. I've only tried two of them, but same stiff draw on both.

You can tail pipe an atty if you don't have a drip tip, but for comfort reasons I recommend getting at least one. I usually take it off, drip, then put it back on because the openings tend to be a bit on the narrow side.

BTW I was lucky enough to get two of these. I was fortunate to be an official tester. So when I saw that they were advertised to also work on cartomizers I put one on my carto. I have only been using it for a few hours so can't give too much info. But I bet it will work well to keep it wet.

I think any atomizer would do. I wish I could help more but the only ones I have ever used are these LR ones. I always ordered cartomizers in the past. I just know that the LR ones will be hotter. Don't get me wrong they work just fine but I would like to take three draws instead of two before I put it down to cool. But it could also be that I use pretty thick juice. Mostly VG. I just don't have enough experience with atty's to be much help there.

edit: hobotivo I see you found the thread to ask in. Hopefully will get some good advice there also.

Bauway was always pretty decent to me. The 1.5 ohms have some KICK though. Those are my "bad day" atties. The only downside about bauway was longevity. Not horrible, just not quite joye. But for the money, Id say they are well worth it. Joye can be sticky on a budget, though their getting better.
Not to sound old, but I still remember when joye atties sold for 15 bucks.

I'll be honest, it looked like cross between an office water cooler (with beer in it) hooked up to a .... (beer and other).

I've been using a drip tip with my cartos since week #2. It's worked out well as my budget has not allowed for a big purchase of cartos at once (not yet at least). Been topping off the same carto, sometimes 10-12 days before it starts to get ucky, and the drip tip (taking it off) makes this much easier than the white caps.

It's one of the things that has steered me away from the fluxomizers that have a slightly larger inner diameter. If it won't work with a "standard" drip tip I'll wait until they make one that does. Only exception to this is the ego cartomizer that MadVapes has right now (sold out).

OK, Randy, I think I need some of your mystical engineering clarity. Anybody else feel free to chime in.

Should dual cartomizers last a bit *longer* than a standard 2.x carto since each individual coil is only running at 3.0 or higher resistance? Longevity to me means "useful life", before it starts getting ucky. A single coil 3 ohm doesn't get terribly warm (especially compared to those LR attys I have), and I figured the duals would be similar from the cartos POV.

I do understand the load characteristics of these puppies, from the battery's viewpoint is firmly in the LR category (1.85A or higher with a 3.7V battery).

I was trying to explain to one of my co-workers how you can have only 1.5 ohm resistance on a carto (batts POV) but still be able to use it on a 5-6V mod (which in the past has meant instant death at that rez using a single coil, atty or carto). Kinda turns the "norm" on its head somewhat.

Anybody had a chance to check out those eGo mega cartos yet?

I don't use cartos very often, but my experience with DCs has been generally positive. I wouldn't say they last any longer than regular cartos though. The filler material still gets gummed up (depending on liquid) just like on any other filler based carto.

I'll let Randy answer the technical question. I'm sure he'll do a better job than I would.
