Fred their Admin has now made a clear statement of his forum's position: QSMB interprets quitting as smoking and nicotine cessation. I think you had best also add 'total cessation of all tobacco, nicotine and inhalation replacements' to that as it's probably what he really means. In other words, they see quitting as total cessation of everything. This conflicts with the view of most e-cig users, who probably want a permanent replacement. Therefore there is a fundamental difference of opinion, and that cannot be fixed.

I'm confused...did Fred change his position again?

I think Roly might be interpreting Fred's stand on eventual nicotine cessation such that the board policy is quitting = no smoke and no nicotine. In any case, I don't think it matters what the official policy of the board is. It most certainly is the position of the more outspoken members of the board and those are the ones we were/are getting trolled and reported by.

I guess I'd like to add to my previous reply with a couple more thoughts about this...

The electronic cigarette subforum over there WAS starting to stagnate, as I figured it would eventually.
Stephanie was starting to give us some slack, and Katiem was posting her somewhat infrequent praises for the Nicodemon.

The Katiem postings were not overly disruptive, and peace was starting to happen in spite of her.
Her posts could have been lived with.

We were starting to be somewhat left alone, and I was making sure useful threads didn't sink too far down.

But then came Electricman, who I think is a Big Pharma or Carr/Polito shill.
Or maybe he is just one of THEM and decided to take the reins.

Make no mistake about it, Electricman has gotten his way.
If you're reading this, ......., you won.

I hope you're proud of what you've done.
And I suspect you are, which turns my stomach big time.

No basically YOU won-as long as Fred continues to allow those subforums you won-in the 2 yrs I've been there most so called trollers come & get chased out within a month but Fred must of thought your group needed a toe hold so there you are-doubt its going to quietly disappear.

I am starting to get the feelling that I can't post on ANY quit smoking board without getting into fights.

When I see posts like this it just drives me crazy...

Electronic cigarettes have already changed that game.

We OFTEN tell people to have a cigarette if they feel they need one.
We OFTEN tell them to take their time and just let it happen.

Why do we tell them that? Because it helps take the pressure off.
We tell them that because it works.

In the context of an electronic cigarette discussion, I can not tolerate seeing that not one puff ever crap.

So with the above idea you quit but allowed to have one w/o being penalized (going back to zero on your quit meter) theirs some that love that idea oh wait their called "closet smokers"-wow a website that allows this would be a popular one for sure. I know I didn't like going from almost 11 months to zero.

DC,

You're heart was in the right place and somehow you must be content with now leaving it behind.

You showed grace under fire and stuck it out. For that I applaud you.

There are many people who will come here and post in the newbie section that they need help. Maybe it is time to shift the focus to that group and help them with the same intelligent style you showed over there.

At least this experience brought you new friends and comrades that you may not otherwise have gotten to know in this great big forum.

As UntamedRose pointed out we do in fact moderate this forum.

ProTip: Energy spent trolling each other can better be spent helping a newbie or just enjoying the company of the community.

See there...Barring plain outright foolishness I believe they try to let you know what side of the line you are standing on...granted some peoples points of view may differ as far as where that line is but I believe the ones whose POV matters have spoken.....

Why don't we get along...its more fun....and people get more things done working together...I mean come on...how could this grand forum be so dang big without a lot of people working together towards one grand and unifying purpose...PVs and their ability to get people off cigs...Face it they work and they work better than anything else ....at least IMHO....If I can quit with them after all the stuff I tried and failed...anyone can...

and noone can say with me it is a lack of willpower...I have plenty of that...if not I would be sitting in a chair rocking back and forth doing nothing...

You can post something like this as a reply and this is about as far as it can go:
"The points you have made are not factual and consist of propaganda or untruths. However I cannot discuss this here. If you would like to learn the truth about this then let us discuss it on this thread on another forum here [linked], as due to restrictions placed on me, and good manners, I cannot discuss this here. Thank you." ...

That's a very clever workaround, Your Illustriousness, and one we should probably all have thought of.

Even I could safely do that. Maybe once I get less behind here, I'll crochet myself a suitably Bedazzled sock puppet and go register over there, just to say that - but very occasionally and only where appropriate!

Thank You!

grace under fire. ...

+ a wagon of bon bons!

It is an honor to know people who are capable of such epic acts of politeness. (insert awestruck icon here).

We know of several instances of good that was done, people whose words we've read.

We can't know how many much help has been received, even lives saved, of people who never registered at either place, or who quietly clicked the link, came over here, registered, and completely forgotten where they saw the link, but the Immutable Law of Lurkers assures us that it's a lot.

Maybe Magnus will return soon, and help us with a clever workaround for the google thing, which always was the pebble in everybody's ballet flats.

What about tagging posts as well as blogrants?

Since so many of both have to do with upgrading from tobacco cigarettes, and this is a forum, the idea of adding the text string "quit smoking forum" to those tags doesn't smell shady to me, I'm confident that H. I'ness will set me straight if I've missed something.

Belief is impervious to facts (yes, thank you, CB). ...

Where is she? I hope she is not shaheed!

And what a brilliant quote!

Per Roly's initial posts it would be a clear violation of the ECF Moderators' requests if I were to pursue the original plans. Further, and more importantly right now, ECF rolled out their new homepage and their own plans for SEO work. -Magnus

Oh dear! I'm even more out of the loop than I thought, then, since I not only missed both requests and that an original plan had happened, but also the new homepage, and even more alarmingly, hobotivo's birthday - but I'm delighted to see you are back!

Happy Belated Birthday hobotivo!

Does anyone know where Shannon went and if she is ok? She hasn't posted since the 5th...glanced at her posts and dont see mention of her leaving....... :(

Has the heat broken down in TX yet (it finally did here in the upper midwest)? If so could be out enjoying a nice day! :)

In my travels around the board after getting some recommendations on good juice I found her posting on the VR (well known, good stuff) thread, and the Copper Creek (think you were there as well? one place or the other?)

That CC sounds really nice. VR is already in my top-5. :)
