Actually, the State of Oregon has not passed any legislation that bans the sale of e-cigarettes. The Oregon Attorney General brought suit against the two companies that are suing the FDA: Smoking Everywhere and Sottera (dba
njoy). Those companies agreed to stop marketing their products in Oregon until their lawsuit with the FDA is settled. This civil action does not affect any other e-cigarette company.
E-cigarette consumer who are being hassled for using this reduced-harm alternative might want to visit the Documents page of the Consumer Advocates for Smoke-Free Alternatives Association web site (casaa.org). We have a tri-fold brochure that can be downloaded and printed on any color printer. The brochure explains what an e-cigarette is and contains links to the research that has been conducted showing that these products are safe for both the users and bystanders. It also debunks the FDA's "antifreeze" and "carcinogen" myths. In addition, CASAA offers inexpensive business cards that list the features and benefits of e-cigarettes on the back side.
