iv been a smoker for 11 years a pack a day since age 11. In P.E. class i would run and smoke when the teach wasn't looking. i was a long distance runner and would smoke all the way through. now a days i can't manage this lol. i still work out and take smoke breaks. after school i stopped running and doing any kind of cardio work. i have been running for the past four months again still coughing up .... and dying from my lungs but it's getting better at least im running. Are there any athletes on here whom enjoy vapor and have witnessed any changes since switching? (analogs to ecigs). or really is there any existing members on this forum that are active and e smoking... rock climbers, soccer players, bocci ball, you name it. please share :pervy:

I'm not an athlete by any means, but I've been doing a 1-hour-per-day cardio routine at a 24-Hour Fitness for the last year. Occasionally I'd get looks because I'd be coughing while on the treadmill a little more than sounded healthy. Of course I'd have a victory smoke outside the gym, celebrating another workout down. That would draw a look or two also.

I can report that I'm breathing much better, not coughing much beyond the non-smoker norm after vaping for almost 3 months. And the victory vape? I do that without guilt; it no longer seems so contradictory.

On a side note, I'm not sure you need more physical activity beyond what you two are getting under that sweatshirt.

Hey sosolidgold,
I don't know how long you've been vaping, but what I can tell you is, in the last 2.5 months of solid vaping, and being a everyday tennis player, I have seen increased lung function/cardo and stamina. Being a little older then 22yrs, (I am in my mid-30's) I have also noticed faster recovery time and less joint pain.

Now, perhaps this is all a head-trip, but by vaping I am not inhaling or near the over 4000 chemical compounds are created by burning a cigarette, 69 of those chemicals are known to cause cancer. However, I can also say that, vaping right away after a solid workout still can cause me to cough/choke a little. But I suspect that's because I am hitting the vape too hard, so I have learn to tone it down and wait a little after.

I'd have to say, in general, vaping has caused me to tone it down all around. It has opened my eyes to exactly how addicted I was to the analogs and the nicotine. I never thought about the nicotine levels I was inhaling, I never thought about/cared how bad I smelt, or how it might be affecting my tennis game/fitness. I am not a health freak but, for me, vaping has made me feel more healthy, physically and mentally. I am still not sure if I'll every quit the vaping but it has open the door to the possibility.

Until then, vape away and keep on running.. I suggest a 5K to get ya started. ;)

haha for sure! i used to smoke cigs after my work out and i usually hated it and needed it at the same time... for some reason after working out the e cig is soo nice. it doesn't give me a headache as would an analog not sure why. but i look forward to the victory vape

at Symorebutts: i think you hit it right on with gaining wisdom from moving to vaping i haven't considered my levels. my first juice was 36 mg and i was over dosing because i enjoy the act of smoking. i learned to really enjoy when i vape and im not required to chain smoke in all situations. i can be more content with just being and when i want really enjoy a good vape. i think perhaps that there is some other chemicals that keep a person addicted to analogs... either mental or physical it's been four months vaping and it took me a min to completely switch. one cig in the morning and night. eventually i was completely off. i been vaping on an ego. what is a 5k?

You are absolutely correct about other chemicals the tobacco companies add to further "customer loyalty". Running in San Jose this time of the year is enough to make a person cough up a lung, perhaps you need to take a ride up to Mtn. View and run out by the baylands (End of Shorline Blvd), not as smoggy.

how do you know the area so well? u lived here at one point?

I meant like a 5k race, you can work yourself up to a marathon. ;) Then again the smog might really be bad.

And Yeah I got the EGO with the mega Atty & carts with VG based juice, and only took about a week to figure out I needed to tone down the nic in the juice. The other interesting thing I have noticed with vaping is that, I don't have exactly the same smoking/vaping times and rituals set around it. Because vaping is so easy, I don't need to make vaping an event in my day like analogs, like having to do outside, or only in the car while driving, or even right after a workout.

As a matter of fact, I just got over a cold and in the past with analogs, I'd start smoking the minute I could (which was typically while I was still sick) and it certainly cause the cold to hang around longer. With vaping, A) I waited until I was almost 100% healthy again b4 vaping and B) it did not affect me as badly. Again, I suspect it has to do with not taking in over 4000 bad chemicals..

Have you reached the point where analogs stink badly yet?

Born and bred 43 years, retired and bailed out after running one of the South Bay's largest Delivery Companies for 25 years. Grew up in Svale and Los Altos Hills, know most of the original silicon valley founders like Jobs, Wozniak, both H and P's kids, did work for Adobe when it was 8 people and owned by the Warnock family. Still remember when there were stop lights on 237 and 101, buses filled with farm workers came to pick cherries and apricots, and Cali Bros. Grain Mill was the tallest building in Cupertino.

that's amazing! youve got history brother... i hope to one day be apart of the growth of this valley. cupertino now has buildings where there used to be a field. It's called the cupertino center and it has this huge peace of metal that is supposed to be an artistic monument.

yes i definitely have... every time it's not as satisfying and i feel disgusting. still haven't gone through a cold while vaping. when i was sick i still continued to smoke even when my tonsils had an allergic reaction and swelled up. i don't think my habits will be much different but i hope that it will be less harsh. i would be sick for a month and continue with coughs through half the next month. iv read of a study at the university of chicago (i think it was chicago) about using propeline glycol in vapor form as an airborne germicide for subways and places with lots of bacteria. the study is being tested on rats and monkeys. rats have not shown any sign of health problems though they want to continue the research to investigate build up in the lungs.
