I went and saw the movie The Tourist this weekend. Johnny Depp is seen throughout the movie using an ecig and even explains exactly what it is to Angelina Jolie. I feel this is a huge step for PV's and I can't wait to see if it gets us anywhere

I just wanted you all to know. So what do you think? Good, bad? Questions, comments. Chime in!

That's what I was thinking. No he didn't identify but it was an automatic battery that was painted like a cig. What I like about it was the fact that he used an auto batt because it really makes ecigs look plug n play. Which they are as long as you just want to try them. When you start getting on ECF you start wanting new flavors, longer batt life, variable voltage, but I liked the ease of use portrayed in this movie.

No it was portrayed very well. More in the middle though. Not good or bad just informative. He asks if he can smoke then explains that its not real its just nicotine and water vapor. Then the movie goes on. But he smokes it throughout most of the movie

Well, that explanation's a good deal more positive than what the majority of America's been exposed to via the FDA and friends. Good for Depp. I wonder if he vapes off-screen too, I can see him having it on him and realizing it could be used as a plot device... Shame that they gave away Blu kits, though. Even a KR8 would represent the experience much, much better while still being simple enough for the completely uninitiated to pick it up without any frustration.

I agree. Everytime I talk about how I quit smoking all I'm hearing is how unhealthy these are. REALLY?!? Compared to cigarettes? We don't need to go through all that though cause I know I'm preaching to the choir here. But yes I'm hoping that even just this small scene makes a big difference. And in that interview that is linked a bit higher up he actually mentions that the ecig was sort of a plot device for him.

OK, seriously? I'm torn about this. All my life Johnny Depp has been my "look-alike, act-alike" Hollywood figure. Everybody says I look like him, dress like him, act like him, etc. Like, as soon as he became a pirate, I was all-of-a-sudden copying him. And now, he's vaping on the big screen? Why, of all actors, did it have to be him?!

I haven't seen it, but I'll offer a guess...
Most of the celebrities that use electronic cigarettes are using the SmokeStik brands Hendu or Pitbull.

That is what Katherine Heigl was using on Letterman awhile back.

I'd agree. However, it also looks like it might be a Blu, which would be supported by the fact that it was given out at the premier. I'm about 90% confident it's one of the three, though. Bit of a shame really, maybe some rich and charitable ECF member should try to mail him an eGo, haha.
