The one exception that I am aware of is the Screwdriver which is made in Great Britian:

Well.. The battery housing might come from the UK but the atomizers are all standard issue DSE801/901 atomizers which are made in China.

There is no way the these could be manufactured in the US. The cost of production would put kits at $300+ most likely!

That's correct, the atomizers come from China. But the screwdriver is by leaps and bounds the best PV (personal vaporizer) made due to it's 8 hour batteries and great throat hit and vapor. Plus because you can get the batteries anywhere and they only cost about $2, you save money in the long run over the more plentiful options.

Well if you're a heavy vaper, this is made in the US, with Chinese atomizers of course (unless you already have your own). And it's at least comparable to, if not better than the Screwdriver, but a lot cheaper :p

Good point, Lu. Do you have both the SD and Moshe? How do they compare? I'm thinking about ordering one.

300+?

-deleted diatribe on the reasonable premium required to manufacture outside China-

Nevermind, I guess Trog already proved my point

Here here. Sure, the Brits and the Americans are never going to be able to hire workers at $3 a day, but if the business model is done right, vaporizers can be made at a reasonable price. Not Chinese prices, but certainly not $300 per unit.

The only thing preventing their manufacture in the US now is the inevitable red tape one would encounter to produce anything on a large scale. Of course, there's the high tax burden as well. If you're in with the central planners in China, as I'm sure any large scale manufacturer is, you enjoy a 0% corporate tax rate for the time being. It's 35% in the US. If the US government cared, they'd slash that corporate tax rate which would offset the labor cost advantage enjoyed by China to a large degree and that, coupled with the saving you'd get for not having to import the product would put the prices right on par with China. That said, don't expect any of that to happen any time soon. More likely you can expect the US government to outright ban the product to preserve its mafia like profits they reap on cigarette taxes.

I have been in my shed working on making my own E-cig. Here is what I do:

step 1Materials
I used: A pressure-cooker 8mm OD copper tubing A plastic bucket.

step 2Construction
Form a coil with the copper tube, leaving a long lead-in. I wrapped around a demi.
Drill a hole in the bucket, and poke the lower end of your coil through this.
The copper tube is connected to the pressure-cooker with a (brewing) cork
A bit of Blu-Tac seals the tube to the bucket
Fill the bucket with cold water, and maybe some ice.

step 3

A person might take two bottles of cheap wine. put them in the pressure-cooker an heat them to the boil. The distillate would be enriched in alcohol, collected from the bottom of the still.
One might wish to add a bit of colour with homemade caramel, and have homemade brandy.

Mmmm, not much vapor as yet but im sure dizzy :)
