Hey everyone. I recently purchased some e juice from a local head shop because I was out and didn't want to wait a couple of days for some in the mail. I am currently in recovery and treatment, and just want to make sure that vaping the alcohol that is in the juice won't interfere with any urine analysis testing I have to do?

I know it's a stupid question, and I don't think there is enough alcohol for it to be traced in urine through vaping, but I just wanted to ask just to be safe.

Thanks yall,
Tyler

Was the juice made fresh or premade? If it's premade I don't believe you'll have any issues. But I don't think there's any hard evidence and facts on this subject. Can you smell alcohol in the juice? Can you ask an employee at the head shop if alcohol is used?

If there is alcohol in it (that you can smell) leave the cap and dripper off for a day or so. The alcohol will evaporate rather quickly.

I wish I could answer this with confidence, but I just can't. Good luck in your recovery and congrats on dropping potential life threatening issues and working though your .....

Propylene Glycol is a type of alcohol and I believe that's what is being referred to in the labeling of flavors. It is not the same as drinking alcohol. I'm not a chemist, but we're not ingesting the propylene glycol (although it is the base for many liquid medicines especially children's medicine). Maybe we have someone with medical training who can clarify whether vaping pg will show up in urinalysis.

Congratulations! You should be incredibly proud of yourself!

It's not a stupid question at all and it has been asked before here. I'll try doing a search and see what I can find. We do have a Friends of Bill W. group here.

Vaping PG shouldn't show up in a urine analysis test... they are looking for ethanol, which is a two-carbon chain with one alcohol group attached. The propylene glycol has three carbons and will not break the bonds between any three under a degradation reaction, so all should be well. The only possible reactivity points I can see with PG are at the alcohol groups, never breaking the carbon chain to revela other alcohol structures which will show up on a urine analysis screen. Vape away!

It's the flavoring that's going to be an issue. Also sometimes suppliers may cut VG with alcohol.

Check the Virgin Vapor absolute virgin line- it's alcohol free. Annette states that it is. You can always email her and double check.

Organically Flavored E-liquid | Virgin Vapor | Electronic Cigarette Organic e-Liquid | Electronic Cigarettes

" They are made from USDA certified organic flavorings (some of our flavorings come in an organic ethyl alcohol base, the Absolute Virgin line is alcohol-free"

(Not promoting a particular supplier- just pointing that out-I would check)

That's not what he's asking. He's in recovery.

I wouldn't chance it either. May not show on u.a. but might still be a trigger. 8 years sober myself and my advice would be to try to find a thread here with some vapers local to you and see if they would be willing to help you out.

Thank you

Thirteen years sober here. My seat on the wagon is pretty secure so I have not avoided juices with alcohol flavoring. I vape mostly natural/ extracted tobaccos (NETs) and my favorite juice (MOV Southern Gentleman) has an amaretto blend in it although I taste no alcohol. If it might be a trigger, avoid it if not, enjoy!

If juice has an alcohol smell but alcohol isn't part of the flavor profile, shake it, remove the cap and let the alcohol evaporate. Should be gone in a few hours.

Alcohol wasn't my drug of choice, but I understand where you all are coming from. I really appreciate the positive responses and support from all of you guys. 60 days on 6/8, not my first go around trying to get clean and am just trying to continue doing the next right thing, and not go back to where I came from.

I'll try to find some more threads about this specific juice if possible.
Again, thanks again!
