Hey everyone,

I am new to the forum, and somewhat new to vaping. I have been vaping for about two months now and have really enjoyed it.

I must admit, though, i have run into a problem. About a week ago i started getting a really heavy feeling in my lungs. the back of my throat seems to be getting raw as well. I have been vaping juice from nhaler and i love the flavors. they only problem is Drew only offers PG based juice and I think that is what my problem is.

To try and remedy my problem i went to DIY Flavor Shack, and bought some VG Juice. It was easier on my throat, but all six flavors i received tasted the same. They all had a plastic/perfume taste to them. As much as I tried, i could not stomach the taste.

So my question is, does anyone have a any suggestions as to a vendor that makes VG juice that does NOT tastes like plastic/perfume? Something close to the flavoring Drew uses.

Many vendors offer quality VG juice, I would recommend giving Alien Visions a try.

As for your flavor experience so far. Did you vape them right after or soon after receiving them? Some made to order juices GREATLY benefit from letting them sit a while. I've had the same experience as you on many occasions, after letting them sit for a week or longer and trying again it was completely different.

I find a blend works best to let through TH and flavor while buffering the irritation. Nicotine is a skin irritant and PG does very little to buffer against that. When my nic was higher I liked 70pg/30vg and now prefer 80pg/20vg.

If the PG juice vendor offers extra flavor as an option, you could buy the juices w/ extra flavor then add some VG.

other than that, there is no reason at all to vape 100% VG if you don't want to. Most decent vendors who actually make their own juices offer at least one PG/VG blend for their juices. And there are a number of vendors that offer every possible PG/VG blend for the base of some or all of their juices. Like Tasty Vapor, Gourmet Vapor, Juicy Vapor, FreedomSmokeUSA (but not for their Specialties or Samples - those are 50/50) , etc and Backwoods Brew only offers 70pg/30vg

I've been vaping for 6 weeks and that happened to me. I thought at first that it might be the pg, but I lowered my nicotine level and started drinking much more water, and it has gotten much better. At first I tried some 100% vg, but couldn't tell that it helped at all, now am trying 50/50 and it hasn't gotten bad again. It all seems to be a learning curve! Good luck on finding your combination that works.

Did you get the normal flavor, or double flavor from DIY Flavor Shack? I've been vaping Dawn's juices exclusively for the last year now, and they're definitely the best I've found in my not so humble opinion. Maybe you should try a stronger flavor (I always go with the double flavor option personally).

Part of the issue may be that your tastes buds just haven't recovered from analog use yet, it can take a few months. What king of equipment are you vaping on?

SOme other things about taste

1. You have to smell the vapor - a large part of the taste is filled in by the aroma, just like with food or cigs. Obviously fans and wind can make this difficult.

2. Vaping the same flavor over and over can make you hardly taste/smell it. I like to vape 2 contrasting juices in cartomizers

3. Dirty atomizers, gunky carts, etc can ruin the flavor of everything (another reason I prefer cartomizers for everything except juice testing. Only juices you know you like should go in cartomizers since they can be difficult to impossible to clean)

I use libertyflights for my VG stuff. Some other places I tried were disgusting and I know what you mean about the plastic/perfume taste. I binned 40ml worth of liquid in 5ml testers from one supplier because it was unvapeable. I wondered if it was rotten fish juice they were cutting it with or urinal cake. Hard to tell sometimes when it's just an awful taste of...awfulness. In the UK there seems to be less choice for vendors. I'm stuck with libertyflights because of that but it's not that I'm dissatisfied; they have the best VG based flavour I can get in the UK. Everything else I've tried was yuck. I'm perfectly happy with 100% vg caramel from them as my all day vape.

Like everyone else said, shop around and grab a few testers from places they reccommend. Hope you get there in the end, I know I'd probably be an unhappy vaper if VG wasn't around. I use VG for the same reason as you. My body just doesn't seem to be able to handle PG well.

Hey guys thanks for the info.

Just to answer some of your questions....

I let the juice sit for over a week; two weeks as a matter of fact, and it still tastes the same. I tastes like plastic/ perfume still. All of them too; there is no differentiation between the flavors.

I am vaping them all from a Riva, with a a joye tech 510 atty.

As i stated before i have been using the flavors from Nhaler, which i think are awesome. But i am not sure if my problem is PG related or nicotine related. I am vaping the High Voltage juice which is only 12mg; i thought that was pretty low. The only other option with drew is yo try the Octane which is 10mg; not much of a difference IMHO.

So i am going to try Juicy Vapor first seeing they offer almost every lvl of nic plus vg, pg, and vg/pg mixtures. I will also give alien visions a go as well.

Thanx for the help and suggestions guys. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Another vote for Juicy Vapor. I have used their juices from the start, and they are really good. I've tried about 30 flavors, and have not been disappointed once. Right now, I'm vaping a flavor called 3blindmelons, a mixture of watermelon, cantelope and honeydew, mmm.... Their juice really improves as it steeps for a week or 2, depending on the flavor because it's made to order. The flavors need time to blend and emerge, even though I am impatient and usually try it right away. That's how I know it gets better.

I've just started diy with some really good results. Maybe you'll end up making your own eventually.
