hi guys,

I was using my profile rda and loving it Until it started giving me a very sweet taste, the only thing i was doing differently was using ethanol spray to clean the rda.

Because of this, I went back to my dual coil setups. Bonza and drop dead... it was tasting fine until I rewicked. I also did the ethanol spray clean before I changed cotton. But yeah, same problem now... too sweet

Would it be the spray? I don’t understand.

I was considering getting some VG/PG Liquid to thin out my juices, so it wouldn’t be so intense. Has this ever happened to any of you?

I ordered an ultrasonic cleaner today from ebay hoping that might help.

Any ideas ppl?

Yeah, I don't think I would be using isopropyl alcohol on the internals unless I was confident I could completely rinse it off. It is not safe for consumption. If you have access to ethyl alcohol (ethanol/pure grain alcohol); that will not leave a harmful residue. Some will also use a neutral spirit (like vodka, or light rum)... just use as high a proof as you can get, to minimize the remaining natural sugars (which just add more fouling).

Dry burning can be a more effective way to remove the crud that build up on a coil. It will actually turn the gunk to ash which can be easily rinsed off... no chemicals required.

Do use only enough heat to ash the gunk; as too much heat can damage atomizer (atty) insulators. Also, there are a couple of wires (I think?) that should not be dry burned: nickel, and titanium, I believe. Kanthol, and stainless steel are both okay to dry burn.

When I dry burn, I do it at a faucet with good water pressure, and the atty attached to one of my older mods that I don't care so much about (in case I accidentally get it wet). I hold the rig tilted slightly below horizontal (so water flows off the tip of the coil, and not back on to the mod. I turn the cold water on (but don't immerse the coil yet). Then I begin pulsing the coil until I see smoke begin to rise. Once I see smoke, I plunge the coil in the cold water, being careful not to get water back on the mod. I rotate the rig, so that water hits the coil on all sides. Finally, I give it a quick shake, and inspect the coil. I will repeat this dry pulsing, and rinsing, until the coil is clean to my satisfaction.

I gave up on commercial pre-mix because of cost and becase flavor was too strong, may be too sweet. I use 1% flavoring in my DIY liquid. Problem solved. My only clean up is gentle dry buring and lite brushing of coils and rinsing atomizers in water. Eliquid doesn't spoil like food because germs can't live in eliquid ingredients.
