I would start with a new coil. Even if it's one you just fired up. It could have fouled.
Drip some juice on the dots with the exposed cotton. Do that several times.
Install the coil. Make sure the air intake holes are closed and fill that sucker about 3/4. Sometimes tanks don't actually like to be full and you may have one of those.
Open air holes. Take a few dry pulls then fire up.

I would also suggest closing off juice flow control before filling the tank--those Protanks 5 sometimes leak when filled with JFC open.

Just my :2c:

What do you mean by dry pulls?

Also what device do you use out of curiosity.

It's actually a protank 5. It's the subox mini c.

Then close the JFC before filling, fill the tank slowly making sure that no liquid gets into the chimney, screw on the base, turn upside down and slowly open the JFC until you see small bubbles floating to the top.

It is, and iirc, this tank doesn't have adjustable airflow control. Lemme check.

BTW, Jacob, have you watched any Youtube video tutorials/reviews of your kit? If not, I strongly suggest you do so. I'm a visual learner and I always watch them when I get new, unfamiliar gear.

I would also like to say that you might consider looking around at other set-ups.

That doesn't mean go out and buy a bunch of stuff just to try it out (like I did(and do)).

Just go to some vape shops and play with all their gear, ask questions, stick it in your breast pocket see how it feels. Then and only then, buy 10ml of juice and go home and order it from fasttech.

Just go to some vape shops

Or go to a vape shop, if you have one nearby, with your Kanger mini subox kit and ask for help. They should be able to figure it out. It's really hard to help without actually seeing what's going on.

Well thank you for all the replies and help. Honestly didn't expect this much feedback.

We aim to please! We've all been there.

So I tried what you said. It's very smooth for a bit, but then begins to gurgle slightly.

Some tanks do gurgle sometimes, but they shouldn't, really. Gurgling usually indicates extra moisture somewhere. Do you have a vaping shop nearby?

If you put a paper towel over the top on any vape wouldn't it (paper towel) be slightly wet because of the vapor?

Yes. Although we call it "vapor", it is actually a suspension of liquid in a gas. It is not just a gas. The boiling point of vegetable glycerin (554 F) is not reached by the temperatures we typically use. And it is rapidly cooled and condensed through the chimney and drip tip. 554 degrees would burn us.

Some of the condensate can pool up and cause problems. I typically use a 4mm bore drip tip and don't have any problems on my Kayfun Prime. I don't have the OP's atomizer.

Yes I do.

First show them your kit and ask them what they think. They may diagnose and solve your problem very quickly.

They cost absurd prices compared to ebay.

Yes, but I don't buy my vaping gear from ebay. You're much better of buying from Fasttech or US online shops.

Maybe I will finally just get a real built device. They always just looked complicated and the beginner devices worked fine and gave me my nic fix so I never tried anything really advanced.

First things first. Baby steps. Learn how to use what you already have. Trust me on this. I've seen so many vapers just buying new stuff and more new stuff instead of getting familiar with what they own.

Not to mention there are just tons and tons to choose from, it gets quite overwhelming. Do you have any suggestions that have worked well for you?

Well, I still use my Kanger Subtank mini; not everyday, but it's an extremely versatile tank--it comes with drop-in coils and with an RBA coil so you can practice your coil-building skills while your're using their blister-pack coils.

Another good and easy one is Joyetech eGo One atomizer with CLR coils. The beauty of CLR coils is that they can be used straight from the box, rewicked, dry burned several times, and then rebuilt. I like the CLR 1Ω coils. Just for starters.

t's very smooth for a bit, but then begins to gurgle slightly.

One more thought before I go. When a coil gurgles, it's almost always because it's over saturated--there's more liquid getting to the coil than that coil can vaporize. The coil begins to flood. Is your liquid flow control open all the way? Try to dial it down (close the LFC half way or even more) to slow the flow of eliquid to the coil. Then check your wattage--are you following manufacturer's recommended wattage? It may be too low.
