A lot of my Dekang juices have expiry dates on them and they seem to be about 1.5 years from the date I got them. That being said, I'm sure they sat around on the shelves of the sites I order from before I got them, so I think about two years would be a good estimate. As with anything, putting it in the fridge will keep reactions at a minimum and preserve the integrity of the ingredients.

I don't have room in my fridge for all my juice. I keep it outside in a shed with my horse feed and tack. The shed is shaded most of the day so stays cooler than our house. There have been times that I have left a bottle or two in my car during the day. I haven't had to through out any juice yet, except the ones that were horrible from the start.

Also realize that it's not that the juice will suddenly go rancid at the two year mark, but that this is the shelf life of the various ingredients. PG has a shelf life of two years while VG's shelf life is between 14 and 24 months. After that time is up oxidation can occur with water content, color, odor, and acidity increasing.

According to one of the chemists that frequent(ed) the board, freezing unflavored nic base sealed with very little head room in the bottle could put off oxidation indefinitely. In the past, some members have had problems with refrigerated flavored juices going 'sour', but that was relatively early on, and I'm personally unsure of what the long term results are now.

I remember when a member had juice go rancid in the ref...I could never follow the logic that was presented for blaming the ref. Perhaps something else was at play in the ref case.

It's possible. I went back to the posts talking about it and Kurt, said resident chemist, seemed to believe that they might have gone bad no matter where they were stored. You were involved in some of those same conversations I saw, so you have the same amount of info on it as I do. All I can say is I'm honestly not sure, but flavored liquids seem to keep just fine in a cabinet, so the only thing I store cold is large amounts of unopened nic base for longevity's sake.

Sorry you had to wade through all that mess:)
Glad those discussions are over...whew.
Only flavored juice I've had go bad was 2009 arctic mint.
Some juice got darker or changed color but vaped ok.
I DIY mix as I go now.
Unflavored in the freezer for about 2 years is still clear and strong; I use it at 12mg for firm TH.

Do you know how much heat is Ok? Humidity? It is extremely hot and humid where I live, and even a new central air conditioner can't keep the house under a humid 86-88 degress on some days (house is well over 100 years old and needs insulation, saving for it :) ).

Currently, I store every bottle (except the one I use that day) in a larger plastic amber prescription bottle in the refrigerator, inside of a cardboard box (have no children to worry about getting in there). This takes a lot of fridge space, and makes finding the one I'm looking for a little trying. May be overkill?

Do you have any suggestions on safely storing e-liquid in a home like mine?

Thank you, Rebecca

Wingsprouts - I've lived in Oklahoma and Alabama. If you're running an air conditioner and it's still humid in the house, then you have some air leaks. Most likely the windows from my experiance. Was so bad in Oklahoma we had to staple plastic over the windows in the Winter to try to keep the heat in. A/C air is very dry.

I wouldn't keep a lot of juice on hand with the high temps you've been having.

I just checked my bottle of VG it has an expiration date of 09/15. The bottle of PG that came from Paddock Labs doesn't have an expiration date at all. My 100mg Nicotine made with 90% PG carries a 1 year expiration date. I looked at several different bottles of assorted flavors and extracts and NONE of them carried any expiration dates. I keep all of my supplies in a refrigerator in the garage. I have been mixing this stuff for a couple of years now and the only problem that I have ever had was when I left a bottle of nicotine out in the light in a clear glass bottle and it turned golden brown in about 3 weeks. The taste wasn't affected at all, only the color.

I've had similar experiences.

Sometimes expiry dates are over rated.

Thank you, Hig. Glad you got out of your hot houses! I'll keep it in the fridge until I get better insulation around these windows.
Take care, Rebecca
