Here's another attempt to get Health Canada to take the initiative to do the right thing. I sent this one to their science and research department, and cc'd the health minister and her critics. No luck yet though. They just just send me the original advisory. But I'm still optomistic.

Good day,
I am enquiring into the study of this product "Electronic Cigarettes", and it's liquid chemical mixture, by Health Canada.
The reason I am enquiring into this subject, is because dibilitating diseases , and the loss of human life, due to tobacco smoked products, is very alarming, and believe this matter should seriously be considered. Health Canada has issued an advisory to hault the sale, advertisement, and importation of this technology within it's borders until further study can be conducted. Under normal circumstances this would be acceptable, but for every pack of cigarette sold, and for every puff of toxins, brings someone closer to illness, or even death.
I am a recovering substance abuser who has fought addiction my entire life. My life experiences have tought me that to this day, medical science doesn't fully understand addiction. Treatment & therapy methods are neither consistent, or predictable for addiction and modern medical science has yet to discover a cure all solution, or guaranteed cessation therapy. This also goes with the addiction to nicotine and smoked tobacco.
I am pleading that Health Canada conduct it's own studies to create standards for authorization, or outright ban the product all together. For Health Canada to sit by and do nothing while it's public continue to suffer from tobacco smoke addiction, is a violation of human rights, and neglegence causing death. Other countries have taken the initiative to take a position on the issue, by conducting their own research, or analysis of research already conducted, yet canada only says more is needed.
Studies have shown this product to contain 99.9% less chemicals that traditional cigarettes. With this data can be conducted statistics of the products effect on the public. (ie. 400,000 Americans die each year in the USA due to tobacco smoking related illnesses. If every smoker were to switch today, the worst case scenario, that number gets reduced to 4,000-400. The best case scenario, that number gets reduced to 40 or 0.)
I believe the Canadian public deserve the immediate attention of this subject, and it's Health Canada's obligation to attend to it's citizen needs. Either for, or against this product, it is a public health issue. Eitherway immediate attention is required. I look forward to your response.
Thank you for your time, and consideration,

P.S. This is not the first e-mail I have sent to health canada addressing this situation. I have still yet to get a response. If the issue keeps getting ignored I will resort to other means for public awareness.
