I am looking for a clearomizer as well. Most reviews I have read have been against because of the cracking. Glad to hear there is one that works. How long do they last?
I have had my first set for about 2 months ish and I'm still vaping on them. I havent had cracking issues at all, but I dont use the types of juices that were causing the cracking issues. I prefer coffee / more robust flavors with something sweet or creamy mixed in. Or chocolate flavors. I have used them with some fruity juices like watermellon , pineapple, and even some of the " icy" versions. Not a crack to be found.
With the darker, more robust juices you do need to clean them out every few tankfulls or so or the wick will start to gum up and it starts turning the juice into a dark syrup that looks vapable only in emergency situations. I cant be sure what the PG/VG ratio is on the juices I'm using but they are rather thick so I'd have to say they are heavy on the VG vs PG. I know some people have had dry hit issues using 100% VG. I have yet to get a dry hit and I have been using the short wick versions. Of course I roll it around in my fingers between vapes and when it gets low so the wicks stay wet... no biggie. The new ones SHOULD cure that need... we'll see.
I have one filled with a lighter watermellon juice from Pink Spot that I have refilled numerous times without cleaning and its still vaping just like new.
I have been praising these Stardusts / Visions for a while now cause they just work and there is NO FUSS. At least not for me. Im on the road a lot and said exactly what you said " I want a battery that will last all day and a carto that will do the same without hassle"
The reply to that comment from Sean @ Nhaler.com right here in NJ was.... " simple.. Ego Vision Clearomizer" Open, pour, close, soak for 2 min... vape ! No dripping and no syringe ???SOLD ! I fill 2 each day and Im golden. I do keep a little 6ml bottle in the console just in case. I also use an Ego Vari Volt / Passthru while I'm out and about so I can be plugged in and not even have to worry about switching to a backup battery.
To clean....I just let them soak for a little bit in hot water, blow them out, dry burn and Im back to vaping. I try to refill each with the same juice that was in it prior to cleaning.
I have also pulled out the wicks and rewicked them with new wick and coil wire. ( well, new from another 1.5 dual coil clearomizer POS that was sacrificed to earn its keep and became my first organ donor clearomizer. Sounds harder then it is but I like to tinker around and see what makes these things tick as many people here do or find themselves doing in their quest for " The Wholly Grail of Vaping "
Look up the video that RockinRobbie did on the stardust. He shows very clearly how the simple pcs come apart and how to rewick them if you like to tinker. If not, the way I see it, if you get a month or 2 out of a single pc $5.00 product that performs seamlessly.. Thats good value in my book ! Though with some wick and wire around , I feel these things are built well enough that they will just keep on ticking unless you use em to set a nail in the wall to hang a picture.
I keep about 4 of them filled with my fav juices and rotate them each day. I also have some Fluxo's, pheonix's, 1.7 smokteks that I use here and there just for variety sake, but in my opinion, though each of them delivers great vapor, they either falling short on Flavor and /or Throat hit as compared to the Stardust. Simply my humble, semi newbie, opinion / findings.
Ok.. this post grew legs now didnt it ? Can ya tell Im bored and needed a mental break from work ?? Sorry bout that. I should be trying to figure out how to make these Vivi Novas work like a stardust... Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
POOF !
