Phil, thanks for the response. I will let you know if they are not working for me when they arrive. I assure you I did not send them working though. As they were the only 2 batteries I had at the time, I was absolutely devastated when they both weren't working and I had to go back to analogs until a new order arrived.

If they arent working when you get them back give us a call and there are some other things we can try... It might be the atomizers. Like I said I used both batteries for several hours and they worked great.

I am new to e-smokes, and have always called my cigarettes smokey treats anyway... so I am thinking of getting the 901 and 510 starter kits. Would these be good for a rank beginner? how does the battery life compare to others? these questions are for anyone who would like to respond.
This question is for Phylo... as two complete e-cigarettes come in a kit, could someone get two different colors? I realize that you are supposed to be able to switch out the batteries as needed, but i see no reason to not mix a black and a blue piece together. :)
This forum has already been very helpful, so thanks to all who contribute.

I just started my vaping a month ago today. OMG; has it been that long? LOL
I started out with the 901. I didn't think I'd like the flat carts, but I found that I really did, especially with me,,,<humph> getting up in years, not having to wrap my lips around something round and hopefully not increase those smokers lines around my lips became more appealing and it didn't take any time to get use to it. Plus, parts are plentiful and relatively inexpensive to get/find. For me, using Fluval & a straw in the cart allowed me to get pretty much all the juice out of the cart.

There is really only one negative I found, and it's something that is just a 'me' thing: There are times when I'm really want to take a long drag. I'm talking a really long, longer than 10 second drag. The 901 doesn't like you going over 10 seconds LOL Don't get me wrong; it's a good lil' thing; about the size of my M'lbro 100s, but one day, I discovered that I really needed that super long draw to calm me down 'cause had I had an analog nearby, I probably would have taken a hit off of it.

Which lead me to look into the 510. I was guarenteed that if I went to the 510, my 901 would become a backup. Pretty much the same size as a 901; not really available yet in a lot of pretty colors like the 910 and the carts that are made for it are round. The 910 carts for the most part do fit snuggly into it, but I really haven't measured them out yet to make sure the 910 cart doesn't go too far into the atty and possibly melt it. But, I have used them on my 510 and no real complaints. The vapor may be reduced a little, but the throat hit was still there.

After being on the 910 for 3 weeks, then vaping on the 510, I initially was "Hmmm...what's the big deal? I'm actually getting a better plume on the 910...what was I thinking?" But many people who's opinions I respect here on the forum swore I'd love it, so I kept working at it.
I soon discovered that the 1 second hold down of the button on the manual battery was short in my mind; I bet I was actually only holding it down for only 1/4 of a second before I started to draw on it. Once I realized this, and held it down for at least a second - OMG! I was a vapin' fool!! LOL
I find that the cart holds more than a 901 and yah; while the battery life on the 510 is only about an hour, the recharge time is only an hour too + I have a passthrough, so I really haven't used the batteries that much anyway! LOL

I see this mentioned, but not stressed enough - there is a learning curve to vaping!! Retraining your breathing/suck takes time, but once you instinctively get it down, both the 901 and the 510 are great units to have.

Which puts us back to square one, eh? which one to get.
Boy; that's getting me to even pause and think....
Knowing what I know now....I think I'd go with the 510. Both units are great, but the real deciding factors would be I have no patience LOL:
-- I like the fact that the 510 has a manual battery, although I'm sure with it's success, it won't be long before the 910 has it too.
--Introduction of the PCC - Personal Charging Case. But, once again, I'm sure the 910 will have one soon.
--This one just came to me - especially still being relatively new to this, I really like the fact that the battery on the 510 is 'leak proof'. If I overfill my cart, I only have to worry about the mess; not if some of the juice leaked into the battery.

I don't know if I was really any help; but I just thought I'd toss out my experiences with the two models.
(That realy made me laugh. When I was learning all I could before purchasing my first e-cig, I just wanted someone to say "get this!!"...and now I'm doing the same thing to someone LOL)

Thanks MlrGrl, that was helpful :) I had gotten the advice to get more than one kind, then if you have trouble finding parts for one, you have the option of finding parts for the other. I am curious about the battery life of the 901, it does have parts easily available, but I would be frustrated to not have at least one with considerable longer battery life than the 510. Would a pen style have a much longer battery life than the 901?

The life of a 501 is a lot less than a 910.
I can normally go about 4-6 hours with the 910 and right around an hour with the 510, so that it one huge differance. On the flip side, I have to (? I should actually say "I choose to...") charge the 910 for at least 4 hours, and the 510 is only an hour to recharge.
Frustrating; yah; but that's the reason why I got the PCC and I read enough to know the passthrough would come in really handy. I purchased not only the wallwart usb connector for the passthrough, but also a car adaptor for the passthrough for my longer car trips, so there were ways to compensate for 510's short comings.

wow; seems like I'm finding more and more reasons to like the 510....LOL thanks for not only making me feel better about purchasing it, but reminding me about the 2 differnt model rule!! I've been feeling guilty for spending the money on a new model so closely after I made my initial purchase, but I had forgotten that bit of information was the reason I decided to go for it!

OH! you had asked about getting a pen style. You know; looking into my second, I was teetering on pen vs 510, mainly 'cause everyone said the cart held more. I don't remember who said what to me - if it was the carts really weren't that different in capacity or what, but it was enough to make me settle on the 510.

Like the poster above me mentioned, drop Phil an email or call if you are like me and sometimes it's just easier to vocalize the questions and actually hear the answers. I get the feeling he's tried everything he sells LOL

MlrGrl, glad to help dispel any post-purchase guilt. :) Thanks for responding again. I have just gotten off the phone with Mona, who was extremely helpful, and fun to talk with, and have placed my order for the 510 and 901! (midnight blue 901 w/blue led, matte black 510 w/blue led) when I order extra batteries and atomizers in the future I will mix and match the colors. I am so excited about my shiny new smokey toys :p
I am going to get the PCC as well, but will wait for it to appear on the smokeytreats site instead of from someone else because I really appreciate being able to get someone on the phone about an order. (and I am feeling my own money spending guilt, lol) Mona checked and said they might have it in a couple of weeks.
It will be really nice, when I am cranky and unfit for company, to have something to reach for that wont make me feel sick and ashamed of myself. (and smelly, lol) I already have some friends interested in switching, especially those who have struggled with quitting off and on. They are eagerly awaiting my purchases so they can see how it goes and try them out.

The blue 901 is sooo pretty!!
My dream car for years has been a '69 camero in that exact blue color, so I thought it was cool & got that same color! LOL

One thing to be careful about, that I was actually going to post about one day, is when/if you boil the attys like Phil suggests, DO NOT try to remove the atty with metal tongs!!
The first time I did that, the atty slipped off and back into the water. Since it had been sitting in the hot water, it made the paint job a little thin and you guessed it - scab marks on my brand new atty!! Arrggg...
So now, I just pour it into a softer, plastic colander to drain the water and let cool before I can put it up on end.
On a happy note; last time I boiled it, the paint started to peel back even more so I just buffed it out with my finger nail & now it's all shiney. With my pretty blue battery, I'm trying to figure out something red to put on the atty that can stand the heat to make a pretty patriotic e-cig! LOL In my opinion, silver not as pretty as the blue, but hey; it's a working atty and I'll take it!! lol

BTW; if you don't have a clue what I'm talking about when I mention boiling my atty, it's on Phil's page under "tips and tricks". That's how he recommends how to clean out the attys.

Your comment about being 'unfit for company' cracked me up. I have to attend a gathering this weekend and NO ONE there smokes. It's my first real time out with the masses in the past month. I have a little bottle of vanilla ice cream that I'm going to take with me. I'm sooo tickled at the idea that if I want to, I can just sneak into the powder room, take a couple drags and no one will be the wiser LOL

OH! that's something I would suggest. Have you checked out the infamous Johnson Creek Smoke Juice yet? One of the neatest things they had was a cute little sample kit of all their flavors. A must purchase for vapers who'd like a crash course on flavored juice. Right now, they are revamping their sample kits and they are suppose to announce their new 'design' of them tomorrow, June 5 (I just checked the site LOL). I would highly check them out and get a sample kit. I was really surprised; I thought with a name like "Mint Chocolate Madness" I would love it...it's nice, but my mind can't wrap around something like that when I vape - although I don't really mind the "Chocolate Almond Decadence"?? LOL And, as someone who hates peach anything, I actually emptied the vile of "Peach Cobbler" -- NEVER would have guessed that! LOL But, it gives you an idea of things that you may want to try in the future.
(BTW; since thread this is under Phil's store, I will note that his Marlboro & RY4 is very nice and different nic levels grace my stash LOL)

I'm just sooo excited for you!! LOL
OH! Are you ordering pre-filled carts to start out, or are you planning on topping your own carts?

If you are planning on filling your own carts, get yourself some teabags, coffee filters, Fluval filters & those little coffee straws and do some searching here for good, creative cart stuffing!! LOL That is one of the biggest complaints - the cart filler not depleating the juice completely. This way, after a coupld hours/days, when you get tired of having to top off so often, you'll be ready to try your hand at filling your own carts. NO; you won't need all these things in large quantity right now; these are just various things that people use to make their own filler and what works great for some (tea bags) may not work for you (or me; I use fluval with the straw)

I am sorry if you think I'm talking down to you on these things....I was just thinking about some of the things I didn't know about when I started this journey, or things that I initially thought "oh; I wouldn't be interested in that", then after I got my 901, I was like "Hmmm....where was that post about.....", so I just wanted to share some things that I have learned about over the past couple weeks. And, if it doesn't help you, hopefully it can assist someone who's even newer!! LOL

Can't wait to hear how it goes!

OH my; I think I just wrote a book! Sorry about that. It's been such a long week, I just sat down here and my fingers just started dancing.

MlrGrl, I have been looking forward to the new johnson creek sampler, I have heard good things about it (as well as some of their past problems) I got the 5 pack sample of carts from smokeytreats with my order, and a couple different kinds of fluids to experiment with. I have heard nothing but good about the famous ry4 flavor, tobacco with a hint of caramel, so I got a bottle of that to try. I am also browsing the nuvape store for their mini bottles. Thanks for warning me about the paint when boiling, I will maybe scoop it out with a plastic serving spoon? a lot of the tips are really good, I have been browsing the posts for information like that. The most helpful thing i have found so far is a video on the page vapersclub.com. I have seen some posts on stuffing your own carts, with fluval or even hypoallergenic pillow stuffing. I think it will be fun to get into this as a hobby and try it all out.
Dawnmarie, I was told about two weeks on the PCC, but don't quote me on that, lol. Maybe if Phylo posts again he can answer better?

Sorry, I seem to be scattered today, babbling in an unstructured fashion. i am still excited though, I just got an e-mail notification my order has shipped! :D
