Not sure how to condense the info out of 1500 posts about these awesome things, when most of the thread is how to mod them, not about using them the way they come.

I found a few of mine (ordered through Awesome Vapors) out of ten had a funny flavor, but most were awesome.
So I hear cleaning/or rinsing them with clean boiling water and then doing a dry burn works well for removing bad tastes. How do you do a dry burn. I am guessing doing a dry burn while wet allows you to use them right away, but I am not sure what to do when doing a dry burn.

Or, can I let them dry out in front of a fan over night instead?

Can someone

I clean all of mine before first use.
Here is what I do:

First i take them all apart. Top cap off, first ring out, filler ring out. I use an eyeglass screwdriver to get them out.
15 min soak in Vodka
Steam clean with steam shark hand held steamer.
Blow out with compressed air.
Do dry burns until you can hold it red hot for 10 seconds
Put back together (The filler ring is almost impossible to get in the right way) (I put them in upside down, skip the 2nd thin ring)

A dry burn is holding the button on your PV until the coil gets red hot. You need to do it with no juice in there.
How long it takes depends on how wet the wick is from your cleaning.

More than one person claims just the dry burn is enough to clear up the taste issues, but I do the full monty!
Fill and enjoy.

I know most people don't have a steam cleaner, but they are worth it. If not insert other cleaning method there.
Really not much reason to dry, no filler in them. The wick will be damp, but not by the coil because of the dry burn.

I dry burn them simply by taking out the soft caps and applying power until the coil glows a nice cherry red all the way across. Once it glows all the way across, cut the power. Repeat a few times. Blow gently on the coil while it is burning. I consider it done when the coil glows almost as soon as you touch the button and no more smoke is coming from it. Allow to cool, then refill, and allow some time for the wick to absorb the liquid before using as normal.

For cleaning I let them soak in white vinegar for 30 min, just leave the silicone cover on the tread end and fill it up after taking the inner rings/pluggs out. Then put the silicone cover on the mouthpiece end.
Rinse under hot water shaking it out a few times and dryburn as recommended previously.

Its true that there is no reason to dry out the carto if you are going to use it right away, as a note though I clean a pack at a time so if they are going to be stored for any lenght of time prior to use you may want to dry them out first.

I took one apart that I recently retired due to taste going off, vapor diminishing etc and found rust around the stem inside. That's why I do recommend drying them out , I put them in a pyrex dish in the oven @ 220 degrees F for 20-30 min(usually schedule my cleanings for just after the oven has been in use and put them in then)

All the best,
Wing.

This is my method too, I find if you want to fill and vape right away though that just holding the carto upside down a few seconds will get the wick pretty well asorbed.

Big Hitters method minus steam is my full cleaning method when I need to clean them after they've already been used.
