I would be grateful for anyone's experience with reliable, non-fiddley devices like mechanicals that are easiest on hand/finger strength for those with nerve damage, arthritis, etc.
The best for me were the automatics when I first started vaping, but I quickly grew out of the small batteries using mainly 18650s on Vamo and other cheap thumb firing button mods even though the heaviness of these devices is painful. I have never seen any mention of large batteried automatic devices so gather the technology isn't safe enough for such.
I recently tried out a pinky finger side firing mech mod which didn't cut the mustard at all and have a bottom firing nemesis on the way for a try but am not very hopeful about it when the side firing one was not good for me.

I'm really looking for a device with longevity now such as a mech, reo or provari perhaps. Living in the boonies I dont have the luxury of a nearby vape store to try devices out before purchase so I'm hoping with the amount of helpful members on this forum some who also have to manage with such physical challenges may see this and have some good suggestions to pass on.
Thank you kindly for your time :)

Good luck skyrose, the Neme has been my mod of choice pretty much for a long time now, but i must say the buttons can be crunchy, even with the magnets...
I suppose cleaning and deburring would be a good idea for that.
I would imagine a nice VV/VW might be easier; you could set your preferred watts to a certain atomizer and forget it...
Depending on what type of resistance you use, there are some new VW's coming out with DNA30 and more... that have quite a range of performance.

Hi Skyrose! If you are interested in Reo, PM redeyedancer (Rob) the maker of Reo. He has a few mods he can do to the RM2 make it even easier to squonk (thats really the only hard part - the button is nice and easy to push and there are several comfortable hand positions that allow you to use a different finger to find what is most comfortable for you) He is a great guy and would be happy to help out any way he can.

Here is a recent thread from someone with tendonitis and you will see a few things you can do to make things as easy as possible, as well as Robs info on the modifications or using the Igo-BF for easy feed :) Feel free to ask anything you would like over here too, reo folk will answer any questions you may have, plenty of us have some issues with hands/fingers and Im certain would be glad to share their experiences with Reo and other devices for you.

First off, you said you tried a side button mod and it was not good. I don't know if you own that mod or just tried it once. If you can try it again, don't use your pinky on the switch. Point the button into your palm and use all your fingers on the other side to activate the button. I have a inexpensive side button mod and when I was learning how best to use it I found it very easy to activate that way. IMO this is the best solution I know of for someone with arthritis.

I also have a Nemesis. I've replaced the springs with magnets and I can't remember how hard the springs were. I think they were hard enough to stop the mod from firing if I placed it on the button with a good sized RBA on it, so probably kinda hard. With magnets, if you use 2 of them it is really easy to activate. The downside is that if you put it on the button for a minute it will fire from the weight of the device so you always have to use the lock ring. OTOH, if you get an atty like a Kayfun or use carto tanks, both of which don't leak, you can put it down on its side.

Don't get a K100. The button on that one is so hard to press it's like doing a weights workout for the finger you use.

The Reos have very light switch action. They are however box mods and depending on how bad your arthritis is it might not be the best for you. You would really need to try one to see for yourself.

My wife suffers from severe arthritis, so I know it can be quite debilitating. But there are so many good vape devices out there these days I know you'll find something that will work for you :thumb:

I forgot about squonking CreepyLady . Good to see that Rob has some options for that.

Thank you creepylady and others! Reo info much appreciated. The most comfortable device so for I've used was a Vapage vmod BF, but hasn't lasted. I'm not into building coils because of limitations so rely on PT 1.8 coils in various toppers they fit. As squonking was an issue I used these toppers on the vmod BF with an adapter. Do you know if this can be done with a REO also rather than an RDA? Haven't yet seen any posts with people using clearos on Reos like the MVP. Perhaps I should research longevity of MVPs? But really am leaning towards a mechanical for durability at this point if I can find one that sounds like it would meet my various needs.

Hey skyrose, sorry to hear about the pain! Since yiure looking at a reo, I have to ask, have you tried any of the innokin box devices? They feel comfortable in the hand and the buttons arent to hard the only you might not like is that they are vv devices. Good news is 1.8 ohm coils are pretty nice on these guys. Also, theyre way cheaper than a provari or a reo.

Describe for me your ideal devise? Is it:
1. Lightweight?
2. Long battery life?
3. Top/Side/Front firing button - a button that does not require alot of pressure to push?

What are all the variables (from a disability standpoint) you need to consider?

In some ways I may be much like you. I've got PPMS which has basically left me with the use of 1.25 hands. No fine-tune motor skills (or strength) in my dominant hand.

I have the same issues with my hands as you do sir. Yea the vamo isnt the best.
I have found 2 devices that are PERFECT for me.
Tesla-vv/vw. That thing fits so nicely in my hands, and the fire button..oh my ....Its positioned so that you pull it like a trigger! with your index finger! You just grip the mod and squeeze your index finger! This is my go to mod. I only have 1, but thats going to change! Getting more. Its light and big, the ridges and the Triangular design just bloody perfect!
Mechanical- I tried the Maraxus. OOPS. I cant use it. So dont get that one...
Nemesis- after modding the fire button to magnets, this is a perfect mechanical for me. With the fire button being the bottom of the device just a slight pressure upwards and fires away with the pinky finger. I cant hold onto it like i can with the Tesla though, i can keep the Tesla in my hand all day long. But the Nemesis is really a good mechanical one for us old arthritic types.
I also have the Itaste, MVP 2.0 which are pretty good as well.

I also have arthritis, and severe nerve damage in my hands. I know you mentioned not liking shorter battery life, but I find the easiest to use is the iTaste VV v3. It's light, the square shape is very easy to hold, and very little pressure is needed on the button, which can be used with thumb, any portion of any finger, or the side of the hand. It does have a small battery, but can be used as a pass through while charging. Or, since it is cheap, you can have more than one. I just ordered my fourth (one broke) for 25.99 from 101Vapes.

I also have MVPs, but they weigh a lot more and the button is harder to push. I can only use them on "good hand days." The Tesla and Reo were mentioned when I asked for help, but the Reo seems to rely on rebuilding heads (which I am absolutely unable to do) and the Tesla is larger and a lot more expensive.

I'm overwhelmed with questions for the many suggestions you've all shared but can't write them all as I wish I could in a timely manner. So please keep making any experienced suggestions and I'll reply as I'm able. This is the most difficult and expensive of decisionsII've been faced with since switching to vaping so all the support is appreciated more than I can express. I'll be researching all your suggestions for a while and perhaps will meet some new friends on the forum!!!

Tesla may be larger, but it the lightest vv/vw that i know of in this 18650 form factor. And its actually the size and the shape(triangular) that MAKE it fit your hand perfectly. Fastech price 35.80 cdn.
As i stated before, i keep the Tesla in my hand all the time, my bad hand, its quite comfortable.
Nemesis 4.20 oz, Tesla 3.70 oz
My arthritis is in my wrist and right thumb wrist joint. The 2 mods i listed (for the Nemesis i HAD to mod the switch with magnets otherwise it would have been sent back with the Maraxus) work perfectly for me.

I got him to text me the name of his pipe mod its a Kamry 1000. very big easy to push button on top. did not get any details on what he might have changed on it since he was busy. Here is a link I looked up NOT suggesting you buy here just a place with good all around photos of what im talking about here it is Authentic Kamry K1000 Epipe Mechanical Mod Full Kit Multiple Colors | eBay maybe this would be an easier mod for you to use.
