This is pretty basic, but if any of you have just started using a Protank (or 2 or mini) and been underwhelmed with the performance, get the 1.8 ohm heads. That .7 difference in resistance makes a huge difference in the vape quality on the Protanks, especially if you are using a non-VV battery or mod.

I thought of posting this because I pulled a head out to clean it and put a new head in, and I was sucking like a fiend trying to get some flavor. Turns out I accidentally put an old 2.5 head in. It's been so long since I used on, I forgot what an improvement the lower resistance head is.

Yes, Ohm's Law is alive and well. The greater the resistance at the same voltage, the lower the watts (POWER). You need a minimum amount of power to make most juices taste right and everyone has their own comfort zone. Your use a of fixed battery using a 1.8 Ohm coils is about 7.6 Watts, and in the normal vaping range of 7.0 to 8.0 Watts. Also, different juices need more or less heat to work at their peak, and properly atomize the eliquid. It's a trial and error thing. The way a semi-advanced vaper deals with the issue of varying resistances, is they get a variable voltage (or wattage) PV or APV. That allows you to duplicate the same heat at the coil regardless of resistance, and is highly recommended. For example, using your 2.5 Ohm coils and adjusting the voltage to 4.35 Volts, will provide the same 7.6 Watts, duplicating the vaporization of the lower Ohm coil. Ohm's Law. Can't beat it. Learn it. Get VV...a must. Good luck and best to you! Thank you for sharing!

I saw a video where they took one of the wicks out. does anyone know the reasons for this?

Sometimes it helps if you are getting dry hits. Most of the stock heads I have vape much better with only a single flavor wick because more eliquid is able to get to the coil.

That said, it isn't always necessary; if you are not having any problems don't do it, because you will likely end up with leaking.

Yes.

Reasons may be that flavor wicks may be making the wick area too tight and causing it to not wick properly.
So , by removing some/may be both flavor wicks may aid in better wicking hence better flavor and vap production.

But it may also cause it to flood since it may not seal as good. So if removing caused leaks than you will have to add wicks back in.

Cheers

My sense is that folks who draw strongly when gaping need flavor wicks and are in effect priming their coils with the draw pressure on every drag. These folks would flood the coil without flavor wicks.

Folks like me who just let the PV fill their mouth with vapor, drawing very gently, don't get this priming effect, needing the freer flowing intake provided by flavor wickless coil -- hence the strong opposite opinions of whether to roll with flavor wicks or not
