This morning when I logged onto facebook I saw that the dreaded timeline had been forced upon me. Not wanting to fool with it, I closed it and opened ECF. Everything looked normal at first, but then when I would click on a thread to read it, this weird, white page with all of my UserCP stuff is at the top of the page and I have to scroll down through all that crap to get to the person's post. I have not linked my fb and ECF accounts together. Is anyone else having this problem? What can I do to fix it?

I was only able to narrow down the problem as one of my add-ons in firefox. I went and disabled all add-ons and now the site it working properly. I haven't even been able to do much with fb because seeing the toolbars/features all just listed vertically was the biggest pita! I tested with this site first since disabling add-ons. I can do without fb, but not my ECF!! Thank you so much for your reply. I will no go check about google and fb....

no problems here, yet - but my fb page still has the old profile .....

have you checked your settings to opt out of google plus1 and fb likes counter? i know you can't remove the fb connect button but at least that setting removes some of the others.

What you saw was the basic coded ECF web page without the CSS file. Something in your browser was stopping the CSS file loading correctly. A web page (now) has the content code, mainly just printed text if you see it without any visual improvement, and a CSS file, which tells the browser how to actually display the page with all the colors, sizes and everything. So if you don't get the CSS file the web page is just a list of text.

In the past, a web page had everything within it to describe what it should look like, but this does not apply now. We need 'scripts' to get things looking how they should. The browser takes the text and the CSS file, then combines them to make a colorful page with elements of various sizes and shapes.

One of the drawbacks to this coding system is that it is bad with shapes that are not square or rectangular. That's why you don't see much in the way of curves, round or oval shapes.
