lol. very true. Ubuntu == Windows for linux.

good distro but i still prefer Slackware. i'm just old school like that.

Slack was the first distro I was ever introduced to and it is still my favorite. IMO it is the most stable distro. I had a router/firewall running a stripped down Slack distro that ran without a reboot for over 2 years.

i used to run my own domain out of my living room (back when it was possible to do that from a cable modem) and with 2 exceptions every box i had was running slackware. (i had a sparc5 running sunos and a bsd box that i don't remember what it did...i think it was a file server)
and yes i agree, it is probably /still/ the most stable distro. it's just fallen out of favor because no one remembers how to use the cli.
which is sad.
hmm.....i think i have an extra computer here. i may try out the latest version of slack now lol

lol no kidding! i just have to figure out which computer in the house has a working burner.
my only problem with slackware anymore is that they went with KDE. never did like that side very much.

Until an official solution is provided there people trying to use the unofficial #ecf on irc.freenode.net

yay!!!

I never liked KDE and prefer Gnome since it loads but still offers all the essential tools that a lighter WM may lack! I think I will give Slackware a try does it have a package management system? I hate dependencies grr!

I forget how to use the CLI all the time so I keep a guide close by hehe!

Tried Trustix Secure Linux that was fun, Ubuntu(obviously) SuSE, Damn small, Puppy, red hat, HP/UX and SunOS on my desktops and my 'servers' which are actually nothing more than play things hehe!!

Now I would like to try Gentoo and Slackware

I prefer Gnome to KDE but I love some of the KDE apps. For distro's I love damn small linux, and ubuntu. I used knoppix, suse, redhat, various debian flavors, and voodoo linux. Keep coming back to damn small for running off a thumb drive, and ubuntu for just everyday ease of use.

I like Damn Small's GUI, its so cute!!! I had it loaded on a bootable CF card which sat on the motherboard inside my LEX fanless mini PC!! Sadly the Mini PC is too slow for today's web, its only 400MHz and the sound chip sounds awful! Lately I have been panting enthusiasically(spelling?) over a Tranquil fanless PC with dual core Atom inside!! It'll be a fine replacement for the LEX if a little bigger to run Damn Small Linux and stuff on!

Here ya go...
Not 100% official but slowly getting there.
Waiting for irc.e-cigarette-forum.com to hopefully be approved with them & sent.
ECF IRC Chat /server 72.20.38.123
typical port
& /rules implemented along with MOTD
or else currently could use /server irc.delcur.com (Temporary)
has another domain pointing to it to make it a little easier.

Yes Thanks to Timtam
