IRC for ECF

I was thinking of going ahead and registering ECF as a group on freenode.net but I didn't want to do it without someone giving me the okay. Unless someone else wants to look into it.

But with a registered channel, members would be allowed to connected to freenode and join the channel and Operators would have full control of the channel. Setting rules and all that junk.

I've actually been sitting in #ecf on freenode on and off for a month or so.

But is the channel registered? Cause you can created whatever channel you want. If you get it registered you don't have to worry about take overs and we'll have more control over it.

Irc is a fantastic way to have live chat! I'm all for it. Been awhile...but mIRC is still lurking around on my pc somewhere...

I'll look into getting our own dedicated IRC server configured.

Update: IRC Server is up, just needs to be configured with Nickserv, etc, so we can get it operating the way we want it to.

Once it's up and fully operational I'll write some sort of how-to.

Interesting, I'm surprised the forum doesn't have IRC already going but it will definitely help. I'll be in there a lot to recruit and help new DIY'rs I'm sure.

wow, this could be a real reason to get epic recompiled and working. I haven't used irc in a few years.. sweet.
