Slack was the first distro I was ever introduced to and it is still my favorite. IMO it is the most stable distro. I had a router/firewall running a stripped down Slack distro that ran without a reboot for over 2 years.
i used to run my own domain out of my living room (back when it was possible to do that from a cable modem) and with 2 exceptions every box i had was running slackware. (i had a sparc5 running sunos and a bsd box that i don't remember what it did...i think it was a file server)
and yes i agree, it is probably /still/ the most stable distro. it's just fallen out of favor because no one remembers how to use the cli.
which is sad.
hmm.....i think i have an extra computer here. i may try out the latest version of slack now lol
I have a desktop I can dual boot. DistroWatch, here I come!![]()
Until an official solution is provided there people trying to use the unofficial #ecf on irc.freenode.net
I cut my teeth on KDE so I am still a bit partial to it.
I prefer Gnome to KDE but I love some of the KDE apps. For distro's I love damn small linux, and ubuntu. I used knoppix, suse, redhat, various debian flavors, and voodoo linux. Keep coming back to damn small for running off a thumb drive, and ubuntu for just everyday ease of use.
mini-itx.com is where I go to drool over small form factor hardware.
Here ya go...
Not 100% official but slowly getting there.
Waiting for irc.e-cigarette-forum.com to hopefully be approved with them & sent.
