ECF want to download files to my computer?

On Firefox I use AdBlock Plus, just added *.facebook.com to the block list and multiple sites seem to be a bit crisper.
(I did this when I noticed ecf was waiting on connection to facebook.com, in my info display at the bottom of firefox)

Sorry, don't know. If you're an IE user than you should probably upgrade to IE8 anyway. It's supposed to be a more secure browser.
I normally use FF with the NoScript add on. It's too noisy for some folks, especially on first visits to sites. It settles down after a bit and I don't find it obtrusive. Basically, NoScript blocks scripts till you allow them -- check out the mozilla site for Firefox. NoScript has more security features as well.

I also use IE7 at work and am not allowed to adjust any settings. Please get this issue resolved as it is very annoying. Hard to stealth scan the site when that annoying lil pop up keeps bleeping everytime I go to a new page, and no I cannot turn the sound down due to work related stuff.
that's what other sites have done - disconnect the fb button - until this is resolved. it is highly annoying, and though i have ie8 i have not been able to circumvent it. the info bar pops up with a sound each and every time i change a page on ecf.
I suggest an immediate change to Opera or Firefox on your home PC. Both are immeasurably more secure than IE, as well as offering far more flexibility. Opera is the fastest browser available, Firefox has the most plugins. This is the plugin age, any web application that doesn't use plugins is severely handicapped, that's where all the functionality is.
You might not know what plugins are, if you use Internet Exploder, but once you've found how useful they can be, you won't go back. If you deeply love IE and can't live without it, you can even get an IE clone skin for it.
Or use Chrome (or better, the SWare Iron version with the spyware removed).

The coder has it, not sure why it's not fixed yet. He may be trying to upgrade the Facebook thingy or something.
In the meantime, if you find the ECF site problematic, here is an excellent website that appeals to both fans of fantasy writing and conspiracy theorists. I just can't say enough about it.

not a fan of either but atm i love the site www.fda.gov- no annoying info bars popping up, what a relief!
