Is this burnt plastic flavor you describe a dry burn? Could it be once you get that into your mouth that is all you can taste? It's nasty and not only sticks around in my mouth but takes a couple of good puffs to get it out of my 4072s.

I haven't bothered to completely figure it out on my 4072s because they're old and junk but it seems to revolve around when the batteries blink from being on too long or the cartridge is running down. It can happen even when the cartridge is full.

To translate that to a manual battery, you're holding the button too long causing it to burn faster than it feeds. With 2 atty systems doing the same thing and your battery reading correctly I'd guess it's something in your technique.

I agree a dripping atty would be your fix. Although that's not a good out and about answer.
I just had both my 4072s doing that, I dripped a little and it was fixed.

I just got an eGo-C the other day and noticed the same issue with the nasty taste. At first it was great then it went nasty too often. I think it has something to do with the rate of draws. If I leave several seconds to a couple of minutes between draws it seems to not do it. When I draw one after the other is when it usually happens. To me it's obviously a heat issue, whether it's the battery voltage, wick, liquid or tank, I have no idea. But it's frustrating because it should perform correctly no matter which way it's used, assuming it's not abused. I'm going to try diluting the liquids as some of you have suggested but I'm not really expecting that to be the fix because I have noticed that one of my thicker liquids doesn't produce that nasty taste as often, it still has it occasionally though. I am all ears to a permanent fix if someone has it.

golfsferr, you may be having the same issue I am having, because your symptoms are the same. I always keep my eGo vertical with the mouthpiece up, and if I vape too fast it starts to get a little plasticky. I wait a second or give a good strong pull without pressing the button and it is fine. I think that wicking issues are inherent to the design of the eGo. I used all VG, and was getting really frustrated. I cut it 50% with PG, and now its great, no other things changed. What I did was take a tank, mix up different fluids of different thicknesses. Find one that works and now you know what proportions you need to mix a larger bottle, like 10ml. I use all menthol flavors, so that was easy for me, I wouldn't recommend mixing redbull and banana.:?: If you only have one juice, try a few drops of distilled water in a tank, shake it good, and see if that helps. That worked for my English toffee vg
I agree that it should work, but keep in mind that juice formulations differ greatly between manufacturers. I have tried many different ones over the last 2 years, and the thickness can vary greatly, even between flavors of 100% PG. I have a small bottle of PG banana which is thicker and won't wick. Joye makes their own juice, so it stands to reason that they test their products using that juice. I know that Joye brand PG works excellently in the eGo-c, so you may have to modify your non-Joye juice to have the same viscosity. Good vape then burnt vape then good vape after waiting or repriming = slow wicking juice.
Not to write a freaking novel, but the OP problem I think is the battery. I tested my spare fresh off the charger and got 3.44v. I ran it down and tested it after it started flashing (yes if you wait a minute, the protection circuit releases and you can hit the button again) and got 3.2v. Your batteries are shot or that manufacturer is shorting you. Both my Joye 650 mAh passthroughs read 3.4 consistently.
