Ecig seems harsher.

Hey guys,
I've been vaping for around 9 months now.
At the moment I'm using a Apex Alpha UltraMax with res, which I'm using 510 LR(1.5 ohm) atomizers with.
Anyways, lately I have noticed that when I start vaping, the throat hit is very harsh. Almost unbearable, though it does slowly dissipate as I continue vaping. Usually not there by the 5th drag.
Also, I have noticed that while exhaling through my nose, sometimes the vapor stings my nose.

Have tried with new atomizers and different juices but the result is the same.

Any idea's why this is happening? I don't remember it beig like this in the beginning...
Being in Australia, Nic juices aren't available locally, so I buy flavor doublers and mix with nic juice.
I thought it may have been the nic juice, but when I finished my bottle, I tried a different brand with the same results.

:( Any idea's? Because its not as enjoyable anymore, the thought of starting analogs again has crossed my mind many times.

Hoping for some helpful info.

Cheers

Atomizer not quite wet enough on the first drag or two?

Change in makeup of the flavorings, slight reaction to them, would be less likely, since I'd expect that to get worse with more puffs rather than better.

Maybe back to basics, do a sip of water right before the first puff? Over time I'll hit spots where I've decreased water intake again, I pay the price with hoarseness/dryness, have to get back in the groove of lots of water.

That may be it, but i find it still happens regardless of wether the atomizer is flooded or dry :\

Silly thought, maybe, but could this actually be right after you have changed batteries? A fresh 3.7V battery will actually run at about 4.2V for the first couple puffs, before dropping to 3.6 - 3.7V for most of its use. Maybe just getting the first couple vapes at much higher power?

(This would only apply if the Apex is an unregulated PV.)

Tried a new LR atomizer on my ego and it seems to be working like I remembered.
So any idea's why it doesn't perform the same in my alpha anymore.
I'm only using 3.7v batteries in the alpha also (17670)

An Ego is 3.3ish volts regulated, when your 17670 is fresh off the charger it's at or just below 4.2 volts, that's a big difference especially using a LR atty. You probably even charge your 17670 before it gets down to Ego voltage.

Might want to try a little higher ohms with the alpha to compensate for the voltage difference.

I've spent a fair bit of money ecigs so far.

First I got the Blu Premium and 30 around packs of cartridges. (I've still got about 10 packs of carts stashed for emergency, haha)
RIPPOFF! lols, too expensive especially when minimum shipping cost from US to australia was around $50 (damn you for only offering DHL shipping!)
So I got a Sun Super 1300 Tank kit next.
Wasnt happy with it and ended up breaking it, so I bought a few ego batteries and lots of different atomizers to see what I liked.

I eventually settled on the alpha. But ended up breaking the switch. Since having the switch replaced and shipped from the US was so costly, I ended up getting another unit for an extra $10 locally.

I said to myself, this is the last bit of kit I'll ever have to spend on, lols
Unfortunately money is a little tight at the the moment :( When my budget allows I will look at getting a VV kit.
Or should I just invest in some other rated batteries for my alpha?

I don't even know what other batteries the alpha takes lol, I've got 1x 17670 in it at the moment.
What do you guys think?

Recently I've been buying all my gear locally from JuiceWhore.
I see they are now stocking Ego C Twist Variable Voltage Batteries.
$26.95. They any good? I have no idea on what the ego C is????

All I can say to help you is that High Resistance and Low Voltage ecig is what your going to need. Unfortunately this hinders the amount of vapor that you will get from your ecig. I can assure you that with frequent use and pushing to get that throat hit the pain will eventually go away. I used to think ecigs were too harsh but now I find analogue cigs to hurt more now. Its all cause of the heat though.

The first drags on a Grand definitely sounds like the battery. That's an unregulated mod, so you are starting right about 4.2V, then it will taper, fairly quickly, down to 3.6 - 3.7V for a long time (depending on battery). Up at 4.2V you are running almost 30% more power than at 3.7V.

With a decent regulated VV you get consistency, same voltage from start to finish. I use notcigs' Buzz Pro and VVPV -- the units stay right where they are set until it is time to change batteries. The Reo VV Woodvil uses notcigs' electronics, will perform the same, and the Provari and Darwin also have excellent regulators. Some VV are not so consistent, for example at least the early lavatubes were reported to show noticeable, consistent, drop in voltage as the battery power decreased (that may have been changed now, I don't know).
